i start college this fall, my major is chemistry and i am also taking pre-med as a minor. i would suggest visiting www.collegeboard.com to research colleges and find out what majors they offer. if you haven't already, take the SAT's asap and it also wouldn't hurt to take the ACT's. also, apply early, it will help. -
I'm going for an English major or a Business major."What we have to accomplish at this time is all the more clear: relentless criticism of all existing conditions, relentless in the sense that the criticism is not afraid of its findings and just as little afraid of the conflict with the powers that be."

heh, i scored a 1320 on the SAT's and had a 2.1 gpaOriginally posted by clerkout
I got a 1240 on my sats but I only have a 2.4 gpa
so getting into a college could be a little difficult for me lol.
. depending on extracurricular activities and other achievements you could still get into a good school, but your best bet is probably to go to a state school and then transfer to a better school if you want to.

Flight Technology at Kent State. Its a cool major (minus the insane cost). I fly 5 days a week, and don't have to take some of the unrelated courses that other majors require (there are downsides to that however).
Think of the things you enjoy, and do research (real research, the hard stuff where you talk to people and visit places) about how people find jobs after graduating, what the pay scales are like, etc. Doing what you love is great, doing what you love and making a living at it is definatly better.
Also plan ahead for yourself (financially) and make sure your parents (if they'll be helping) know as much about the costs as possible before you decide on an expensive path. There's no point in getting half a degree because you can't afford it.Comment

thats if you live in PA, it's also not that hard to get into main campus, you just have to apply early (october-november).Originally posted by ratmonkey
mechanical engineering, penn state behrend.
i had a 1310 and something like a 2.69 gpa in high school so as long as you pay you can go to penn state.Comment

as a recent college grad.. here is some advice.
pick a major any major that you like. get good grades, go to a good grad school and you will be set.
if you want to be an engineer or something in science, you'll have to do the hard stuff.
if you want to go into something else, like law, pick an easy major, get good grades, study hard for your lsats, go to a first tier law school.
if you want to be a doctor, take an easy major and the required science classes, you don't have to be a science major to go to law school or med school.Comment

I'm getting an electrical engineering degree, with a concentration in either power, or control systems. I'm also getting a degree in computer and systems engineering. I don't really want the computer degree anymore, but I'm more than halfway through, so I might as well finish it. I go to rpi, and it sucks. Don't go there.Comment

I just finished my Business Management degree and I am glad I selected that. A business degree is always a safe bet, it allows for a great amount of flexibility when selecting a job after school. I also did a history minor just because I enjoy history; trust me, employers love to see any extra effort put forward in college! The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Paintball Team

I'm majoring in philosophy. I was hoping to get into the honours program, but since I'm transfering into the university I haven't really had a chance to get a recommendation from an instructor there, though my instructor at college did recommend I go further... (my grades are well above the requirements, though).
As of now I'm hoping to go in for graduate study. For a minor I am studying religion, but I will drop that if I manage to get into the honours program.:)Comment
