I used to play EPIC Warhammey a few years ago. I have a pretty nice Tyranid army sitting around getting dusty.

              phhht

i spit on you. space wolf cheese...
used to hate those guys back before they revised that rule...yknow cyclones and assault cannons for all!
even then i still hate em. but yeah, theyre pretty hard. nothin...i mean NOTHING can top
my Harlequin Solitaire w/combat drugs, conversion field and some sort of nasty weapon...then you load em up with that backpack grenade launcher, power fist etc... 24" charge hell..dont even know what the hit modifier was...ok maybe the new rules are a good thing sometimes. but those power chars were fun.

for the guys that have played the older and newer revision...what do you prefer and why??

Ive never played stratagy game - but I have played the role playing game based on the fantasy Warhammer. Its not real popular in the US, but I had a room mate who was in Germany for a year and got hooked. I loved their system - tons more fun and easy than AD&D. I would probably have a blast playin war hammer 40K - I have painted many starwars leat minatures. But I know that paintball spends enough of my time/money.

i played the RPG your talking about a bit. it had the same races in it as warhammer, ie skaven, dwarfs etc, but was like hero quest (for those that remember it)...... you built up the board from various parts that came in the box, like space hulk

                  see, u an't the only old-ish d00d here =]

There was no board - just a book. They did have the different races and character classes... I am sure they mayhave made an intro type game like that - similar to Dungeon by TSR (I have the original version of that game)

                      ahhh

nope, your referring to Warhammer Fantasy Role Play
never tried it for fantasy, but I adapted it for wh40k...simplified a little.
but yeah, no interest in my area...or most of north america i would imagine.

The old rules were cheesy. You could load up a Chaos lord who would then proceed to own the battlefield.

Terminators are much weaker in this edition.

Games Workshop rules suck, though. I have yet to see anything they publish that can't be totally abused. That's one reason why I stopped playing. Their rules contradict each other, and often go against common sense, or sometimes simple laws of nature. Then the game turns from fun into rules debates, and I get bored.

I'd rather just paint them :)

i must admit, 1/2 of the games i played turned into some battle of rule books, quoting passages from the bibles that where the rule books. One of the players would end up wee-weed off, (more often then not after he's lost 75% of his army) and then he would pack up and go home....

totally agree with Thordic...... apart from i can't paint for dogturd

man those terminators wouldnt stand a chance against my boys lets\see 30 boys starting w/ mobbed up 30 gretchin charging into terminators, ay i loos 15 boys and 15 grots i would still have 30 and i cant roll a\30 on 2 dice to fail my leadership so i get in to hth you attack first i think humm 1o more grots die and 3 boys that leaves me with 48 choppa attacks, and 10 grot attacks plus my slaver and nob w/power fists.....um i think that means no more termies!

I guess I'm more of a Tyranid girl. Have most of my guants all painted, the ripper swarm found their way to terrorize the inside of the vaccum *gotta love the mum for that* and then my little Carnifex guards my room rather nicely! *lol*
