I started with a Jasmine. Its great, still going strong. I think it cost me around 300-400$ when I first started, which was like 6 years ago.

I also like Gibson acoustics. Great guitars.

If you want a begginer guitar, a nice pawn shop is were it's at. The one's that i've been to have alot of guitars, and most of the people there don't know the value of differnt guitars. You realy don't need any specific type of guitar to start out with so just find one you like. Go to one and play around on all the guitars in your price range. You should probibly buy a tuner first and try to tune the all the guitars before you play them and than see if they can hold the tuning for a fair amount of time. For the most part, don't listen to anything the people at a pawn shop tell you. Most of them know nothing. Just find one you like. I got my first guitar for $99 canadian, and it realy good for the price, considering that a squire would have cost me $300 and it's better than a squire.

I'm suprised no one mentioned Washburn... I have a mice Washburn Acoustic I got a couple years ago for right around 200.00. But as people have posted go to www.musiciansfriend.com or go to Mars Music or someplace like that if you have one around you.

Hmmm well if I were you I'd get the Fender DG-10. Thats the guitar my bestfriend has except that its right handed and it's a nice guitar! But check out if u have any music shops near you and go and talk to someone in person, they can suggest the best guitar for you to start with. hope that helps!

                  TTT,
So guys, sence im left handed, are my choices of guitars limited? And please dont show me some electric guitar because seriously im gonna start out accoustic. Are there any models I should look for say if I went to a guitar shop and asked for left handed models? Hows the DG-10 that was mentioned by MarineDRNC?
                  Thanks.

well really man... if u see a right handed one u like u could still buy it and just restring it backwards and then it will be left handed. except for the fact that ur pick gaurd is upside down but that has nothing to do with the performance of your guitar. instead of having it strung EADGBE string it EBGDAE and play it left handed and there u go... left handed guitar. Alot of famous musicians that play left handed do this... Jimi Hendrix for instince was left handed but he played right handed strats. Mac Powell from Third Day plays this way too.

I go to my local pawn shop all the time. Actually, they just moved to a new location, and started only selling music stuff. I havn't been in the new place yet, but they have a ton of guitars. I can't wait to check it out. I have a feeling I'm gonna blow a lot of money on an acoustic. I'll be sure I ask you guys before I bite the bullet. Especially from dave, he seems to know his stuff.

It protects the body of the guitar from getting scratches from guitar picks. Pick guards are replaceable and mostly interchangeable. You'll find them on nearly every acoustic and maybe half of all electric guitars.

Ok, I forgot about this thread (again)
So is it reccomended to get a lefty guitar or just get a righty and flip it? Also heh so far ive got like the fender models and most the suggestions above were for electric gutars and I really dont think I should start out with an electric, but I dunno?

NO! it is far too much work, just buy a lefty guitar. Trust me. I would suggest a left handed Squier Strat, they are GREAT beginner guitars.
