My Windows is all screwed up. Help please.

Here's the deal. I got the blue screen of death. I've had it happen before so I did what I did last time. I used the HP recovery disk and did the reinstall (not a format). All my files are there but most of the games don't work even after reinstall.

What I did last time was run the Scandisk. It found a bunch of errors and offered to fix them. I let it and the problem was solved.

This time I ran Scandisk and it found nothing. Now I can't play Madden or Unreal II (just to name two games). I am a loss of what to do except reformat. Two questions:

    1. Is there anything I can do to fix the problem?

    2. Would upgrading to XP help any?

I fixed it. It would help if I scanned the right drive

P.S. I have Windows ME so this weekend I'm gonna get XP

Oh boy are you gonna have fun then....make sure you do a full install not an "over the top" upgrade as although XP will run on the Fat32 system that ME uses it really wants to use NTFS plus move all your critical files to your spare drive first then move them back after you have installed XP on your main drive then open disk management to format the second drive...and get ready for a whole bunch of heavy downloading as XP is rather picky as to what hardware it will work with and even those it does work on very few are XP certified so you will get the warnings pop up all the time when you are installing the drivers...other than that you will forget what the blue screen of death is
