AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
Well, I turned on my computer this morning and found out that the subwoofer on my Altec Lansing 641 system for my computer doesn't work anymore--it's only been 8 months since I got it.
dude i blew out 3 subs in the last 2 weeks. Im on my 4th sub right now. No joke. I think my amp output is too high or sumthing...hell i dont know anything about that stuff except its getting expensive.

o btw these were 12's.
I think he's talking about computer subs. Also make sure you don't have your wires crossed. Positive to a negative and negative to a positive. That would blow them with the quickness.
IF it did actually come with a fuse it would be on the back. More than likely its going to look like a black dial that sticks out about 3cm. If not, it may be inside the sub case and you might take it apart to look and see. Is it not playing ANY sound from the sub or is it just baffled and horrid sounding?
ASDadam, no sound at all. The green light on the back of it turns on though. I've tried reinstalling the drivers for my Audigy2 soundcard to no avail. The 4 satellite speakers are wired up correctly to the sub, and those work.
Just one night, the sub stopped working. I'll take a look for that fuse later.
No sound at all either means the Amp for the sub is blown or it has a fuse and its shot. hmmmm weird....maybe its got 2 amps, one for the spears and one for the sub and maybe the sub amp busted. Are you sure its wired up correctly? Some 5.1 soundcards and such have a output for a sub. I'd just say check the connections and make sure they're right.
the BEST? Heh....umm a Marantz 2245 Reciever with JVC Speakers...biased opinion. Best that you can find most places would be the KLH. But in all honesty its all on the user. Some people find the KLH speakers to be the best others find different ones. Hit up a local Circuit City and listen to them and see what you like.

All the corrections are correct, trust me.
Hmmm, when I take off the front "grille" on the subwoofer, I see two circular speaker thingies. Nothing comes out of either of them.
I suggest replacing the whole shabang with a nice 500W dual sub 5.1 Klipsch thx system. Not only do they shake my entire house, but you can use them for digital or analog output with the processor (i think it comes with it now?) so you can use it for your PC/TV/DVD/FM/CD/whatever. and klipsch is proven classic qulity with good warranties. check em out. or, check your wiring and then check the card outputs with headphones to make sure each channel is giving signal. yup...
