Country that does nothing but good for us?? What are you smoking, last time I checked, lying, cheating, going to war, wasting tax money for useless ****, and corruption wasn't good. Now, I'm not saying that the USA doesn't do good things, they do many good things not only for the citizens of our country, but for the citizens of other countries as well. Being a true 'patriot' would actually be criticizing the government and exposing the problems with out system, but whenever someone does that, some ****ers have to jump all over them saying they are un-patriotic and unamerican, when in reality, they are some of the best patriots out there. Being a patriot isn't about buying an american flag and hanging it on your house, or an american flag bumper sticker, being a patriot is about exercizing your right of criticizing the government, free speech. But the real point of it all is, don't jump on someone's case and say all america does is good for you, because even though they do alot of good things, they still don't do everything they can.

Ok, I've got to agree with you there, but even though things aren't bad, things could be better. But anyway, on an unrelated note, it pisses me off when everone is like, America is the best and america is number 1, because we aren't number one, I'd say we are like number 12, and don't get me wrong, 12 of 290 countries isn't bad at all, but we have enough resources to be the best, we just don't apply them. America is pretty good right now, but if they just made a few changes, got rid of the idiots and corruption in the government, I think we could be alot happier. The reason people don't focus in on things like that is the media and schools. on tv, they focus in on murders and other crimes to keep you concerned about your home and yourself, and then in school, they drill it into you that america is better then everyone else, keeping the people stupid about the corruption, lies, and problems with our system, but ignorance is bliss, and as long as the people are mis-informed, they are happy. It's not the actions that the government takes that upsets me, it's lying about it.

my friend who has a bumper sticker that says " i support our troops , bring them home " has been repeatly honked at, verbaly abused , and had things done to his car. i had never seen this sort of blind rabid patrotism before.
when i see a bumper sticker that i dont agree with i dont scream at the owner of the car , or throw eggs at them.
why , because we should respect that persons opinion, and because it would make me seem like a total wacko.

there are people out there that have been Patriots all there life, and i admire them , and i respect the fact that that people wanted to show their solidarity after 9 11.
i also did.

but now .. when i am afriad to voice my opinion on somthing because i may be branded as unpatriotic is just really depressing.


The US is not a bad country... i have been to way to many other countries to think that. but i believe our culture has become one of fear.... this may kill you , this makes you fat an unhealthy,...we live in fear of everything. and i think that is the root of alot of our proplems

How could you not think that America is the greatest country in the world? No other country give you more freedom, more opportunity, or more wealth than the US. Tell me what other country would provide you the opportunity to be driving that Ferrari. You have lost your mind. I am also offended by those bumper stickers not supporting our troops. I would have no problem confronting someone with them on their car. I am confronted all the time about my bumper stickers which support the right to keep and bear arms. These people have no problems shoving their ideaology down my throat and I have no problem shoving mine back down theirs!

The bulk of the really vocal people that have been "questioning the war" weren't doing that at all. They didn't ask questions and look for problems in the system, all they did was to denounce the US, wish for the defeat of the US, and in various different ways attempt to help the enemy.

That's not to say that there weren't legitimate people voicing reasonable opposititon to the war that got lumped into the same cword as those people. There were some plenty of people that voiced reasoned opposition that got treated like they were the typical Anti-America bunch. Notably some Democrats got unfairly lambasted for their opposistion to the war. BUT, there were also Democrats that got what they deserved for their Anti-American stance on the war. There's a difference between being against a policy and being against the nation.

and what countries are ahead of us? every and i mean EVERY country out there has the same problems as us (if not way way worse except for canada, but its a crap load of money to buy anything there, and the taxes are 15% so basicly, they suck). every country has corruption, absuse of power, misused funds, crime rates, racism, and other things like that, even us! the thing they dont have is freedom as we do. i know someone is going to say "MAH! WE DONT HAVE JACK CRAP FOR FREEDOM! OI! OI! OI!" but we really do. try shouting out against your government in another country. you'll get arrested just for gathering. try china. remember tinnamen's square? THAT's communism at its best my friends. america has a wide range of problems, but when you think about it, its nothing compred to whats out there.

about being country#12...it depends what the basis for rating is...if you go by GDP..we're not #1 anymore (95% sure china or japan has us beat now)...however if you're measuring it by the amount of money we spend on national defense...we're definitely #1...in fact, we spend more on national defense then the next 25 highest countries combined. we sure are concerned about keeping our country safe from dem dam unamerican bastards.
