The same thing happened to the West side of the country back in August of 96.
I remember because I was in traffic school all bloody day, and then the power went out and I got away from it early. It was out for several hours from Washington to Mexico, all the way out to Vegas.
No big deal, just shows how dependant we are on convinience.Comment

Power around here was down till around ten. I must say it was a relaxing evening, I split some wood then sat on the back deck with a cold brew from the cooler and a couple of steaks on the barby. We sat around and talked about nothing much, then when it got dark we stargazed. I didn't worry about the power or being a tech drone and didn't get bored at all.
Isn't it amazing how much background noise we are constantly bombarded with, and how quiet it gets when you lose it.
What a nice break it was for me.Flying the unfriendly skies.Comment

Power was out for just short of 12 hours in my area. Got me out of my last night shift of the year before going back to school (with partial pay! <hurray>).
Amazing how quiet it was with all of the airconditioners in the neighbourhood turned off. Spent the evening reading by the light of a Coleman lamp.Usually around. Usually silent.Comment

Before there was anything even on the news. I didn't have a clue what it was when I posted that threadOr better yet, why don't you kill yourself. No, really, die. Drop dead, don't leave a note, in fact burn your house while your little ego is stuck in a bench vice so that you'll also incenerate yourslef and everything you own with it. Because that's all you're worth. You're not even wirh thte time it'll take for the house to burn down, so just kill yourself. You're a waste of space. You are nothing, you always will be nothing.
