Blackouts in NY

I'm to lazy to turn the TV on...does anyone know why these blackouts happened...sadly, it reminded my of ghostbusters when he accidently kicks out the power line lol

ppl say it is from naturall causes. it is like so many power plants are hook together if one fails all fail. something like that.

was like just talking to my dad, he said it was like on overload or something at one of the plants in NY and all the other ones just like went down with it

When you think about it. Probably a good 10 or 20 percent of people on AO cant get on right now to talk if they wanted to, so Im sure we will here from all of them when this thing gets fixed.

There is a total lack of communication here. Right now everyone is scrambling to lay the blame. As far as i know they don't even know what happend or they don't feel like saying.
Maybe one power plant went down and the others got locked down thanks to our security? According to the media we are BLAMING CANADA! I bet by the time i wake up Bush will already have done us the favor of declaring war.

They say the blackout started in Canada. Supposedly New York offered to help Toronto with there need for more electricty and in the long run the computers overloaded and just set back, shutting down everything...so they say!

I have heard too many different explanations to know, but within 2 hours the mayor of NYC was blaming Ottawa, Jean Chretien was blaming a plant in Manhattan, and some others were blaming lightning strikes around the Niagra region....when apparently there has been no lightning or rain there for over 24 hours. Apparently Hilary Clinton even found a way to blame the republicans in general.

In any case, it's been a hilarious few hours, full of hysterical morons and drunks.

EDIT: Well would you look at that....my sig is screwed because Sympatico's servers are apparently down.

Looks like it started in Ohio now. Once one station on the grid fails it cascades it's way out until nobody has power. This is the largest power outage in history. Cool.

Guys lighting or soemthign stuck the power Plant near nig. falls upstate new york. Causing one grid to go out, they have it set up if one grid goes out they all do. Man i didnt get power back til like 4-5 in morning(long island) Was cool but sucked.
