    question about installing XP

right now i have 3 harddrives, 1 is my system drive and the other 2 are for storage. I think the system drive is about to fail because my bios is telling me that the S.M.A.R.T. (self monitoring analysis and reporting technology) status is bad, and the hard drive has been really loud and sounds wierd. My question is, would I be better off reinstalling XP on a blank harddrive I have, or could I install it on one of the storage drives I have without any problems? I would like to install it on one of the storage drives because I will be getting a dvd burner soon, and with 3 harddrives I won't have enough space. So, if I install windows on a drive that already has stuff on it, will it cause any problems?

When you install, it doesn't matter if the drive has been used before or if it is brand new. Once you format, it's almost like having a blank new drive.

    Good luck!

Make sure you copy your C:\Documents and Settings\*your user name* folder. Helps retain your personal settings after a fresh install.

Well is it possible to install it onto a drive and keep the data that is already there?

ya...prior to installation pick the option that says convert to fat32 ..i think...that way it doesn't erase your old files
