    Windows XP help needed please.

    Well I finally upgraded from ME to XP. Took a couple tries but I got it done. Now I have a little problem.

    I can't stay connected tot he internet for more than 10 minutes w/o the system shutting down. I get theis message:

    "This system is shutting down. Please save all work in progress and log off. Any unsved changes will be lost. This shutdown was initiated by NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM

    Message:
    Windows must now restart because the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service terminated unexpectedly."

    WTF? It never did that in ME before. Can someone explain to me what is going on?

      Blaster virus all xp things are getting it. go to microsoft.com and download the patch.

          Yeah just run windows update, download everything, and you'll be fine.

          Or better yet download the blaster fix first, then download everything else.

              Is it possible to get that when I've only had XP for less than 24 hours. I just put it on my PC.

                      2.5 hours. One of our bosses got a laptop shipped to him, brand new. Plugged it in and in 2.5 hours on the net it was shutting down on him.

                          the patch doesn't fix what msblast has already corrupted. reformat, then as soon as you install XP, dl the patch. the patch is preventative, not corrective .
