I love bird hunting, chucker, quail, pheasant, partridge, and just about any other bird that is legal for hunting.

for this i use a *20 semi... and since i started paintballing a couple years ago, my trigger doesnt stop when im shooting at a bird. so to save shells and money ive moved to a remington 870(i think)express pump, *20

    - i also have two german short hair pointers

Good to know that somone of Tom's status seeks "relief" from a sport he helped create. A sport now ruled by a single patent.

I am a member of PETA- People for the Eating and Tasting of Animals!

Seriously I hunt when given the chance, my newborn son is getting a lifetime hunting/fishing license for his first Christmas (ok call me Redneck).

I only kill what I can eat. My family also raises beef cattle (Herefords) which also keep my chest freezers full.

I only hunt on family land, and never shoot the limit (5-7 deer depending on the year). Where I live a day doesn't go by (even out of hunting season) that I don't see a roadkill deer. They are way overpopulated.

If you are worried about how "easy" hunting is, put down your scoped high power rifle, pick up a bow (not a $600 compound, but a traditional recurve), a blackpowder rifle or even a pistol. This given the superior senses of small game should even the odds. By the way on a scale of alertness (1-10, 10 being the most alert) a whitetail deer is a 6. A turkey is a 8; Most foxes are 10s.

Hunters don't waste hardly any meat. Where I hunt, you can donate a deer to the food pantry. And every year less than a week after a deer was shot, I find it's guts devoured by coyotes or crows. What really is a waste of deer is roadkill, which can be reduced by hunters who lower the herd amounts. If my family does shoot too much deer, we can always give it to a friend who will eat it. I went hunting with a guy once who smoked a rabbit with a 410 pistol, he paced it off to 45 paces.
To dubstar- If you really wanted to save money, you should have bought a 12 gauge. Those shells are the cheapest you can find. That is, if it is adequate for your purposes.
          http://www.digitalpaintball.net - I love this game!

I shot 5 squirrels during Thanksgiving weekend. My Grandmother wanted to get rid of some. I was using a 1968 Benjamin Franklin pump pellet gun.
            I have no Sig.

Thanks for that cphillip - I have now bookmarked the site - excellent find

As for hunting, I hunt deer, just got back from our annual trip to manitoba to hunt deer on our farm

got a 4 point buck this year. we eat everything we take. can't stand sport hunters, but I like the fact that there are groups that will take sport hunters meat and distribute it amongst the community.

As for ethically? well, cows are much to easy to hunt that's why I like the deer - I savour every bite while thinking of how that deer got my heart pounding and the concentration involved at taking it at 250 yards with my .303 british (no scope - open sites)

As for hunting more primitive - I've seen black powder rifles more advanced than my .303

Hunting is a sport for most and a way of livelihood for others. I do not need to hunt for subsistance, I can easily go to the local store and buy beef, but why should I if I can fill my freezer with enough meat to feed my family for the entire year. Financially this benifits my wallet. I hunt every september up north (Fairbanks, Alaska) for moose. It is my "Vacation". I respect the outdoors and also respect gun safety. Those who are anti-hunting, well.....they have the right to voice their opinion. Just don't try to force your beliefs on me.
I live in a state where gun ownership is higher than any other state (including Texas) and violent crimes (involving guns) are lower than most states per capita.
