Photoshop messing-up?

Ok, this is really pissing me off. It sometimes just locks itself in this color mode that only lets me use this color
R:60 G:48 B:49
I have no clue why its doing this, i just re-installed photoshop on my computer and still? Any ideas?

maybe this explains it a little better, the only channel that is showing up on the picture and in the channel's window is gray

sounds like you're working in grayscale mode. Try starting a new file and then select RGB under the type setting at the bottom of the dialog box. Just a guess though.
