webpage help

I'm helping this guy out with his bands webpage. The guys want there to be thumbnail pictures and when you click them a larger picture comes up on a new page. the problem is, is that whenever I do it, the larger picture comes up on the same page. So is there a html/javascript tag to make the picture come up on a differnet page?

Yes you can make it come up on a second page do you mean as a kinda pop up or as a new page altogether....personally I prefer the pics to be on the same page as otherwise my toolbar starts to get rather full but I ain't designing this website.
