Computer Help: DVD Player

My dad has a new computer but the DVD player program will not work. The drive itself works, but the player will not play movies.

Any suggestions on a free player? No adware or spyware please. Thanks!

Free isn't always the case as every DVD unit I have bought had a software package bundled with it so you are in a way paying for the software but Power DVD is ok seems pretty widespread in its use...be sure to avoid playing disc's from other regions as you only get 5 changes before the unit is locked into whatever the last region it was set at...unlike standalone players...you shouldn't have too much of a problem with this as within reason I doubt you would want to play DVD's from regions outside of the states.
