    I'm tired of football..

This sucks.. first off this is how i training for this years football season: spring we lifted everyday after school for an hour, summer i had to take summer school so i could play football, go to weightlifting/running, And now is hell week which is from 7:00am-7:30pm(2 hour rest time). It sucks, i'm tired of it, but i wont quit, i'm not a quitter and i came all this far and now the fun is beginning and all that time payed off. I just get a little frusterated of it, anyone else have this problem? Like playing a sport that eats your life away?

OMG dude I so know how that feels I hate it. I use to be so much into football, but I dropped the sport now. I was youngest player on Defense and Captain on our team for D, but I didn't feel like I was having any fun. So next year came all of our good seniors moved, so I know we were going to have a ****ty team. So I dropped it I couldn't believe I just stopped playing, It was like everything to me and I'm no quitter. But its like your in HELL for nothing. Our team went from a Division Champion team to winning one game the next year , I knew it would have sucked. So I started playing baseball which I like a lot more and its year long. Its hard to do things that you want to do when you are trapped into playing a sport.

If you truly love it, you will regret not playing later on in life. You see, most highschool athletes don't go on to play at the collegiate or pro level, so highschool is all you have. I made the mistake of not going out for baseball my senior year because of differences with the coach. I still regret that decision to this day.

Just thought you should know. Don't be so short-sided. You will love to think back on the hellweeks and two-a-days that you endured "back in the day"

        Re: I'm tired of football..

We used to have the hell week stuff but probably not to that extent (memory getting fuzzy). Personally I think high school sports are starting to get ridiculous. I hear people say that to be competitive now you have to focus on your main sport all year around. Sheesh!!! Its a game! Kids should be able to be in several activities year round and not focus on one thing just to be competitive. Most aren't going to make a career out of it after all.

When I was in high school you couldn't start practice until a certain date prior to the season. Now coaches are getting around it by having "optional" conditioning. Everyone know how "optional" that conditioning is.

football is so awesome. It has kept me out of so much trouble in my life. I have looked up to my coaches as roll models and they have done nothing but help me. Im fortunate enough to have a chance to play in college and I thank God for that because there is no other way I would be able to go to college.

But its funny that you bring this up, cuz right now im in between practices. Ya hell week really sucks, but o well tough it out and it will all be worth it.

When a sport loses its fun in your eyes....its time to quit. I played football for about 8 years...through my sophmore year. Eventually i realized that it just wasnt the same as it used to be. The fun had been sucked out of it. Thats when i started playing lacrosse. Havn't looked back since. It's just as violent...plus they give you a stick to hit people with

IMO its all been wortyh it, and im in the best shape ever

man.....you think that is bad.... oyu should see me w/ wrestling, i practice year round(sat. and sun. included) i think the only time i dont practice is on a holiday of some sort(like christmas and labor day) during the school year im up at 4 am to go run 2 miles and then go down and practice till 6:30-7am. go through school then i staryt parctice again at 3 then go till 8-9 p.m. myself, 2 coaches are the only ones to do this. but it is ok cuz im gonna go and take state then place high in nationals as long as i bust my butt everyday. but football man i miss playing. im a junior and played my frosh and soph. year. i decided to go straight wrestling this year and i kinda miss being able to knock the snot out of people. like beam said you will regret it..but for me wrestling is far more important than playing for a half-arsed football team like at my HS. but you only get one shot make the best out of it i guess. good luck w/ your season.

Well wrestling is hard, but to me its not as nearly as fun as football. Now i am begining to play in full pads and this is the part i love, so all of the hard work is soon to pay off.

WicKeD_WaYz- What college do you go to? Position?

just like w/ guns its all personal pref. i think the one on one match up of wrestling is much tougher and more of a rush than playing football. this way you can only blame yourself ofr a mistake....but to each his own. what position do you play ghillie? i started in free safety and played corner evry once in a while. im gonna miss not playing this year i already am but it is a sacrifice im willing to make so i can have a far better chance of winning state and placing high in nationals.

                      thanks

I guess I worded that wrong. I have the CHANCE to play in college. Im still in highschool. Nothing is for sure yet but I have been getting letters and what not from a lot of colleges. I think if I play a good season I COULD sign with Colorado. (grades may pose a problem ) Ive busted my *** in the off season working on my speed and what not but now its time to play. So we'll see how this season turns out.

BTW I play defensive end. IMO the best position on defense. Cooler than a backer cuz I get sacks and they cant :)

I play strong guard (*we run unbalanced O*) and D End. And I agree, defensive end is so fun, especially with our defensive playbook. We run alot of games, like twists and blasts and stuff like that.

Most complicated D in our league and its gets the job done...

I play Defensive tackle and this year i am playing offensive tackle(usually a guard). I might be playing a little end this year, defensive line is the funest!!!

i know how youg guys feel. i actually didnt play this year due to a few reasons consisting of my bad back(i could play if i really wanted to, but i hate having to go to the chiropractor twice a week and being in constant pain) and our new coach. our schools new coach is "Thick Neck" Lyndon King who was a linebacker for the raiders. he is a complete dick and has the team practing from 5:30am-7:30am before school, and from 4pm-dark after. our line coach is cool, he is Tom Warrick and played for the chargers and the dolphins.....but he isnt cool enough for me to stay on. good luck to you guys with your seasons, and if you dont know what to do, HIT SOMEBODY!
