I dont know much about wireless either, but your computers will still browse the internet at the same speed as if they were on a wired LAN.

All you would need is a Router(wireless or wired)..
Hook both your PCs into the Router and then configure your router with the settings from your ISP.
Make sure you have DHCP setup on the Router so it assigns IP addresses to your machines.
Make sure your TCP/IP settings for your connections are set at "Obtain IP Address automatically" and the same for the DNS settins. This is found under your TCP/IP properties.

Then you should be able to browse the internet instantly.

Don't get wireless unless you have a good reason to.

instead of buying a router, and messing with it for dhcp, get another network card for 15 bucks, a crossover cable for 10 bucks, hook the 2 comps up with the crossover, and turn on the internet connection sharing on the computer that is connected to cable.
Sadly the mag is gone, moved on to an LCD Trix

i wouldn't go with the crossover cable idea, a router is the shizzle. You set it up so that it logs you in automatically, also it protects your network like a firewall and if you ever want to add more computers its a breeze, just plug them into an empty spot. There pretty cheap for a four port router maybe 30-40 bucks, buy a linksys. Oh yea, and the intial setup is really easy, they basically configure themselves

Only use wireless if you have a laptop, it's really *POOF* using it with a desktop, also pointless. Currently, I'm using a netgear 802.11g wireless router, and it works great. 52 mbps wireless, 100 mbps using cat5 wire. I have had 2 linksys 802.11b wireless routers, and they were both crap, the wireless was extremely slow and eventually crapped out, and the wired connection was fine for a while and then it too stopped working. I've been using the netgear 802.11g router since June and I haven't had one problem at all. But seriously, if you aren't planning to use a laptop with a wireless connection, don't get a wireless router.
