    Car speaker advice...

    Hey everybody...

I'm looking to replace the speakers in my car right now...2 of them are shot (front and back left) and the back right one is starting to fuzz out. The front speakers are stock Clarions, oval shape, that fit in the door panels. The back speakers are Alpines, maybe 6-8" each, with no sub-woofer. I need to get these speakers replaced, but with what? I need some advice.

I'm looking to spend a max of $150, but hopefully more around $100. I wanted to come here and ask anyone that knows about these kinds of things before I just head over to the car audio place and have them push something on me.

Its a real basic setup...I don't even think it has an amplifier lol...I'm just looking for some durable speakers that will hold up better than the ones in my car now. Thanks for any input!

first what you should do is go to www.crutchfield.com , and find out what size speakers go in your car. then find which ones you want. once you find some, do a search on google or ebay. crutchfield sells their speakers for obscenely high prices, and you can find them for at least 20% cheaper at ther stores.

FOr $150 your best option is going to be 6x9 speakers. The reason being, if you get regular plates (circle speakers) you will have clear mids and highs but no bass at all, 6x9s can give you bass, mids and highs. They dont do it as well as a set of plates and subs, but for the price they do it well. You should be able to get some nice Eclipse, Alpine or Sony 6x9s for $150
