    Home Audio Problem

ok, so im having a little problem with my stereo

    this is what ive got

    Yamaha HTR-5550 reciever
JBL studio series floor speakers (312 series i believe)
    Sony 300 disc CD
    JBL 12" Sub (PB12)

also, these are plugged into my reciever just like the speakers, and everything works great.
    dvd player
    turn table
    digital cable box
    computer

but my problem is i just bought the JBL sub and i cant get any sound to come out. the lights on the front do change from red to green but no sound. I dont get any sound no matter what i have it on, cd, computer, dvd nothing works out of the sub. the speakers all work, but not bass from the sub

i had a monster cable sub cable and i took it back and got another one, so i dont think its that, also this sub is brand new.

oh, i did read the manuel(sp) but it was like 3 pages and i hooked it up correct, i also looked how best buy had it hooked up, and hooked mine up similar.

lemme know what you guys think

    thanks

    Cliff

edit- now that i let it sit for a second, the sub lights on the front go back to red, which means no signal, so whats the deal? something in my reciever?

    thanks again

Double check your receiver and make sure it's in the correct mode and stuff...

        Cliff-

does your reciever have a seperate sub output, like a 5.1 set up?

If you have it setup with speaker level inputs you would most certainly be getting sound...

wait... you said sub cable... drrr

Don't worry Cliff, nothing is broken. you just need to activate your sub output, and that secret mystery lies somewhere in the endless depths of the hell hole we call a user manual.

Hmmm you'll want to try to get your "input" and "output" holes figured out. Could lead to a lot worse then a red light later on in life....
