I do a lot of AP work but not with the dob, I use the big meade 6 inch refractor for that kind of work.

it has goto which makes tracking an object for the time it's being imaged very easy.

the big dobs are mostly for visual use.

nothing like having a scope that has an eyepiece full of galaxies to look at...

sweet as hell with the mirror it has in it. the primary is an Intermountain 17.5 inch F4.5 the secondary is a 3.1 inch 1/20th wave(means very very good) Antares.

It doesn't look much bigger in this vs my 6 inch meade but it is a hell of a lot brighter with a lot more surface detail. Ice caps are easy, with this one you can see dust storms on Mars.
