    Going for electric...

    Hey AO

I got the opportunity to play around with an electric guitar at a friends house today for like an hour. I instantly fell in love. So, I searched some old AO guitar threads with electric in mind rather than acoustic this time, and I have come to this so far. Unless you guys sway me, I plan on buying this Squire starter pack. I was wondering if anyone have this or had experiance with it or anything like that.

    Thanks

        ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

The only problem w/ getting a suuuper cheap guitar as your first (or in your case, first electric) is that if its low quality, its going to have a low quality sound, low quality playability, low quality everything, including the need to tune it all the time. You have to ask yourself just how much that is going to influence your ability to stick w/ it. One of the main attractions to playing guitar, is that its fun! When they fun gets taken out of it, why do it? Buying a super cheap guitar like a Squier may not help when you constantly have to tune it, or listen to the thin plinkey sound you get out of it. My first electric was a Gibson SG...and that was after I had been playing for a while. That guitar has since been sold, but I do not regret purchasing it, because a part of what made playing fun was playing that SG. It would be worth your time to save up and actually get a guitar you would enjoy playing.

My friend has a Squier strat...and we both look in disgust towards that thing. A pain to tune, and almost a hassle to play Many will argue its an electric guitar, and its super cheap $$...what could be better? But if its not going to encourage you to keep playing, what even the point? There are actually many guitars out there that are still cost effective, yet will be much more enjoyable than a strat pack. Check out Dillon, or Dean guitars...those are both good starters. Higher end Epiphones like the G-400 are also a good bet.

i completely disagree. i own a prs and a peavy wolfgang along with a squire just like that. if the peavy and the prs are not close to me and the squire is, i will just play the squire. its not a bad gutiar at all, i enjoy playing it just as much as any other.
