"Beginning January, recreational users of the drug will be free from prosecution, unless they are pushers, the newspaper said."

We passed roughly the same thing a few months ago in Canada, IMO it's a good thing because it allows the cops and justice to concentrate on the more serious stuff. Sentences were doubled for pushers and people who cultivate the plant.

Will they pass something like that in the States? I highly doubt it...
bla bla bla, does anyone read this anyway ?

I guess this a good thing, seeing that I'm an occasional smoker, but why double the fines for something that they just legalized? That doesn't make any sense to me. I think they should either make it completely legal or just stay with the current system.

I'm not a big fan of these laws, simply because I don't get how it helps anyone to make the use legal, but not the sale or the growth. I've never understood laws that besically increase the demand for other people to violate the law.

If you want to keep drugs illegal then do so, make them illegal. If you're problem is the expense of putting drug users in jail then simply fine them (which I think is a better idea anyway).

Otherwise just make the whole thing legal, but to do half legal half not is just silly.

There are some good arguements for the legalization of some laws that I really can buy into. But these half and half laws always annoy me.
Or better yet, why don't you kill yourself. No, really, die. Drop dead, don't leave a note, in fact burn your house while your little ego is stuck in a bench vice so that you'll also incenerate yourslef and everything you own with it. Because that's all you're worth. You're not even wirh thte time it'll take for the house to burn down, so just kill yourself. You're a waste of space. You are nothing, you always will be nothing. Don't leave a note, you're not worth the ink. - Tyger

i'm in now way an advocate of useing this at all, but on the other hand i could see how legalizing it would help. If it were legalized, that means the government could tax it right? since the government isn't harshly punishing those who do abuse the law, the might as well be making a little money off of it..that's just how i see it though.
