    Photoshop question/challenge

I'm trying to figure out how to lay text onto something with wrinkles, and make it reasonably realistic. I've tried varying the opacity through the areas where there is more shadows, it looks somewhat like it, but I'm sure it would could look better.

Anyone want to give it a shot, and post how you did it.

Try making a duplicate layer of the fabric. Then get the selection for the text. Select inverse and delete all the excess fabric from the copy.

Go into filter-render-lighting effects. Turn the texture channel to the color that best fits the fabric (green in this case). You can adjust the height and direction with the sliders. Match the light's angle as close as you can to the fabrics light.

I added a hue-saturation adjustment layer to the final text to give it a different color.

You can also just use the text selection to apply the filter without deleting any of the fabric. This will not allow you to change the color unless you use masks for the adjustment layer.
