well, our team, Lambs to the Slaughter, had a tourney yesterday. At AAA paintball in Syracuse NY. It was a 3 man deal, with 8 teams participateing. Entry was $150 for two touneys, the first of which was concelled. And the reason im writing this is that i am PISSED. That said, here goes.
The day before the tourney, we call to ask when the captains meeting is, and which fields will be played. the manager picks up, and says "i think it'll be at 11" They didnt know what the format for finals was, or which of their fields were gonna be played. Thats one of those things that you should know the day before you host a tourney.
So we get there at 10:30. Started playing at around 12:30. They play at 260 FPS there. It was also the worst paint i have ever seen, huge dimpled, hard, almost no fill at all. i have no idea what it was, but it was terrible. And it was $60 a case. So right there, theyre going for profits, since playing at 260, and really bad paint made for way more bounces.
Prelims were a round robin of 7 games. We won them all, got 660 out of 700 points. Next closest had 520 or so. They put us on one side of the field all seven games. We asked for the other side, and the refs called us *****es and said we couldnt. We basically owned everyone. The refs also clearly favored another team.
Finals come around, and they had no idea how the format would be. They took 20 minutes to figgure that out. What they said they would do is take the top 2, and then chose 2 random teams. Uhhh BS? yeah. Especially because they didnt pick teams randomly. They picked the team that they had been cheating for, and the team that came closest to beating us. And sure enough, they put us on the side that we handt played at all. First game, our front goes 50, to a big dorito with snakes on the side. they take the 50 also. Their player goes for the flag, but Matt shoots him in the hand. He grabs the flag, for the pull. Then the kid he shot, gogged matt. So what do the refs do? The pull them both, 15 seconds after it happened. THEN, they put the other kid BACK IN, and give them the pull. Next game, same setup. Matt goggs him. He puts his hand up, stands up and walks out. the Ref comes over, wipes him and puts him back in. Pure simple cheating for them.
I go back for air fills after that game, and there is one person in the "pro" shop. An employee. And he didnt know how to fill air. wtf. I go back to the field and tell the manager that we need air. She goes "Some go fil the F******* air!" Drops an F bomb right in front of all the parents, players and little kids. So we did get air, except that she filled one of the 3000 psi tanks to 4000 psi, and blew the check valve.
Last game, i dont even know what happened. But it was bad, simple as that. End of that, we get a 5 point penalty cuz our guy flicked off the ref. That is uncalled for, and the penalty was fair, But not after the manager dropped an F bomb. Yep so we took second. Prizes were cockers for first, and supposedly harnesses and jerseys for 2 and 3. The manager went into the shop looking for the oldest stuff to give us. WE place second. we get scott masks, that had been sitting on the shelf there for 2 years. 3rd place got barrel condoms.
So to sum it up, we got screwed out of a win. The refs blatently favored the other teams. They didnt have any idea what they were doing either. The staff and management are all hicks who have no idea what theyre doing. There were 2 upsides. The field was very nice, except for the terrible sand/grass mix. And Team Compete was there, they are a great team, very nice, fair and sportmanlike. So, never go to AAA.
