windows xp install help!

so i am refomatting and installing xp

what do i gotta do?

just reformat

then pop in the cd? and maybe boot disk? that's all right? i don't need to backup anything i don't care for it

If you set it in your bios to boot to cd, then pop in the windows xp cd then it should ask you if you wanna format.. hit yes and format ntfs.. then when its done install winxp

Er- I dunno, most bioses are diffrent, but it should be somewhere in there, just hit deleate or whatever when you start up, browse around and look for 'boot order' or something like that and put your cd drive as the first choice..

ok so i throw in the cd and make it boot from cd.. but then it don't ask me to format

You have left the Win XP cd in the drive haven't you? As when you turn the pc back on the cd will load and start going through all the steps...if it doesn't load guess you should have bought a real version. If you do get it all to work remember Win XP doesn't come with Java as part of the package you will have to go to Sun Systems to get the current version...hell if you don't have cable or broadband.

thanx for the help personman and MarkM... as of now i think i got it.. i deleted all partitions and got it in there.. it installing as you read

now i just have to delete everything in my d: partitioned drive and hope this will hold mp3s and such
