New graphics Card with something cool bundled!

I was just checking my email when i saw my gamespy preview thingy before i deleted it. It said that a new Radeon graphics card (9880xt or something) was coming out in a little while, and its coming bundled with a FULL VERSION of Half-Life 2! So cool.

Not really. it was supposed to be yesterday, but seeing how i'm here at school that clearly can't be the case

sounds like a sweet deal if you want/need a new grahpics card. With ATI cleaning up its drivers, they seem to be overtaking NVidia.

known about this for a month or so now. although since the card itself was only just announced i didn't know which card it would initially be bundled with. it will eventually trickled down to thier more wallet friendly cards. half life 2's release date has been delayed to an indeterminate date. they're pushing for holiday season. that's ok though cause i'll be playing halo until then. if you think ati only "seems" to be overtaking nvidia then you obviously haven't been looking at the benchmark numbers. nvidia still has the market share because of their deals with major oem dealers but ati clearly has the performance and price advantage.

Hasn't half life two been comming out for a few months now, and the just keep on delaying it. I NEED that game.

It's a very good card actually, it performs very closely to the 9700 pro and actually has beaten it in 1 or 2 benchmarks. It also has a 130nm core process so it overclocks really well if you want to do that. ATi's new cards are the 9800XT (500$) and 9600XT (200$), both of which are going to be bundled with Half-Life 2. As for Half-Life 2 being delayed, i don't think it was. It wasn't even announced untill a few months ago and back then they said the release would be in the 4th quarter I think, and from what i've seen and read it doesn't look like it will be delayed.

no the release date was definitely sept 30. has been for a while. now it's pushed back to sometime this holiday season.

I think it is coming bundled with the single player version or HL2 not the multi-player version.

oh well, i really dont mind if its delayed awhile cause i almost never play computer games anymore. i probably wouldnt end up having a chance to play it untill winter break anyway.

Yes, HL2 was supposed to be released but it was delayed. Also, did any of you hear that the source code for HL2 was also leaked out and I think that might have been the cause of the delay. Grrr! Just think, they were almost done with the game and BAM! Their code is leaked! What does this mean? All those 1337 hackers out there can now figure out how to bypass some of their anti-cheat codes.

BTW, I have a 9500 Pro(essentially a 9700 card with a few pipelines locked). Using a program, I've unlocked those pipelines and it's an awesome card. I used to be an Nvidia fan for quite a while too. Like someone said, for the price/performance, these new ATI cards kick some butt!
