Lookie what I got! The G5!

Mac all the way bay-bee! Sure, they are pricey, but worth every penny. I have an iMac from three years ago at home and it's still the nicest computer I use during the day. My systems here at work, both PC and an older Mac don't even compare to what it can do, and the problems it doesn't incur. PC's are pretty nice as well, but hands down if I have a choice I'd go Mac any day. That's a nice machine there cphil...I'd love to have a G5.

I do fine art, graphic design, and web design so it would be perfect for it. However, I've customized my iMac out far enough it does a pretty sweet job.

Ok I am going off line now... going to set up the G5 right now. Just got done copying my Doc and Pict files to CDrom on this Winders box so I ready to do the phyiscal swap. Moving everything is gonna be a pain. And I plan to reset this Windows unit up too and run it for a while till I get everything up and running on the G5. Might have forgotten some stuff.

Gimme a half hour or so and I will be back here to report from my G5.

Well I still not got my airport working right. Seem to have a set up sticking the wrong IP in there. So I just wired up hard wire to do this. I figure it out later. Seems almost like some kinda firewall setting is in here that I need to find and disable so it can find the DCHP address it needs. Right now it keeps wanting to use the Airport base instead of the University one.


But I am up and running. This thing is blistering fast!

Ok it appears I am going to have to go in and set the MAC address manualy. I think its because my Airport Base is "outlaw" and the university server is not allowing it to set the MAC through it. I gonna go do that tomorrow and see. For now I am running direct wire to the T1. That works real well and FAST! this thing is a freakin god. I got some pictures of this thing I gonna put up tomorrow. The CPU case is simpley stunning and amazing. Lots of Alumium Cheeze grater kinda vented thing. Multiple fans you can just barely see spinning back there. Three I think. A work of art realy.

Nice! The G5 is a sweet system. I used to hate macs, but I've matured past that. It's like thinking that girls have cooties when your a little kid. If I were going to get a new computer, I would wait for the new AMDs with the 64bit achitecture. They're also gonna be sweet systems. They'll be able to play half life 2, and doom 3 as well. That would be the only reason for me to get a new computer.

Good luck with your system, from what I've heard, you'll be happy.

Our school has about 200 computers hooked up to a single T1 line, and it competes with my dsl. I can't imagine the speeds phil...
