    reformatting directions for puter nub

    Yes thats right folks!

I'm having problems opening internet explorer, someones trying to tell me to reformat when that happens. Anyway, I want to run linux and I have a few questions..

Or rather.. why doesnt someone who has some time tell me exactly what to do..?

    Please?

Well, from a formatting veteran (I have formatted numerous times beause im to lazy to dload anti virus software) just reboot in dos, and type C:\format then it will guide you through the rest. I believe that is the command that is, just try it.

Step one: Enter bios when you boot up computer by pressing the 'DEL' button.
Step two: Enter advanced bios settings (should be labled something like this)
Step three: Go into boot sequency (should be labled something like this) and change it so your cd rom is the first device to be booted off of.
Step four: Put in linux cd in and hit save and exit. It should boot to the cd..
You should be able to figure out the rest and it will start formatting, and reboot then it will go to the linux install.

Agh I diddnt realise it was for linux until I had already typed it up but if you are instaling redhat or something like that it should be pretty easy.

that command will not work because you cant format a drive if its the PWD(present working directory). you have to boot from a dos floppy with the format command on it and from an A:/ prompt type format C:/.

instead of having people think for you. google linux installs or buy a distro and READ THE FREAKIN MANUAL.
also many would do well to read this: http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-...ons.html#intro
