There are a lot of programs out there that will do it the one I use is called Hemmings Multi Studio Pro, made by a german company and it is so damned cheap to buy it really isn't worth trying to download it (if you even can) the only thing you have to remember when installing it is to leave the shortcut for the Studio on the desktop as you cannot access the conversion part of the program (it is a mp3 player as well but you don't set it as the default player to avoid any conflicts) through the Programs list, most all programs you can but not this one. If you can find it it is approx $15 and it works with all windows versions. If you have Win XP you don't need it as the Windows Media Player will convert for you and do the burning with it as well but as with a lot of built in programs you don't have the control you get with third party software.

I use Musicmatch to convert files to mp3 format.

It's free and available at www.musicmatch.com.
