              Robert-

              You use multiple layers, right?

Wanna know how to make the edges of your images smoother?

1st, make the very bottom layer (the background ) a medium grey. (in the color picker dialogue, the hex ID is "ededed".) thats' about half-way between the 2 shades of grey used in th AO posts' backgrounds.

2nd, make your sig as you normally do in layers above the background. Each item or word should be its own layer (so you can move them around to make them fit better)

then, when you're done and content with how it looks, save it. After you save it, flatten the image (make sure the background is visible), double click on the single layer and make sure it has a transparent background instead of white. Then, on the "select" menu, click "color range". Slide the "fuzziness" tab all the way to "0" and click somewhere in the back ground to select the medium grey background color. hit "ok". When you see all the background selected, hit "delete" to clear it out.

In the "file" menu, select "save for web". You'll see a list of file types on the right hand of the screen, select "gif 128 dithered". then there's a right-arrow in a circle next to that, click on that, then "optimize to file size". that way, you can type 20k in the "size" field, and it will optimize the pic to under 20k. hit ok, and then save.

Hope that helps, Pm me if I confused you...
