If you have the money why not spend it?

It must be a system of ball bearings with locks that kick in at certain speeds that make them work.

Some soccer mom rolls up to my school everyday on spinners dropping off her kid. Me and some friends were thinkin about pullin a fast one on her, nascar style. Pull up nexst to her car in a pickup, bust out some impact wrenches and and jack up the car, steal the rims, and leave :)

How can a soccer mom have spinners?

                      Re: Car Rims that spin

the otherday while im walking down a sidewalk i see an Explorer stop at a red light and the tire rims keep spinning (the tire itself was not moving), i was wondering what those cost and if anyone has a site to where these rims are sold, it looks really really cool!
Okay, I'm gonna put all this to bed.

"Spinner rims" were first made by Latrell Racing, owned by Latrell Sprewell, the basketball player.

                      Sprewwell Racing

These rims are usually of a larger size than what comes as stock on the car. It is made of custom CNC'd rim and then a ball bearing "spinner" is mounted to the exterior face of the rim. When driving the spinners will revolve at a slower pace than the tire, will revolve in reverse compared to the tire or will even hold still but will continue to spin once the wheel stops.

Price. Way to friggin much if you asked me. No wonder it take a multi-million dollar salary to think these things up. The spinner bolt-on price (spinners that can be bolted to most any rims) fluctuates between 900 and 1700 dollars for four. The actual rim and spinner kit can cost as much as 16,000 dollars as far as I have seen.

                      Are they cool? Hell yeah.

Are they all that neccessary? No.

And since only those who make more money that the entire nation of Bolivia can afford them I guess we won't be seeing much of them.

Course, I have been thinking of getting a CNC machine and starting to make my own. The rim blanks are not that expensive. Sell them for hundreds less and people will flock to me.
Return to the free market. Get rid of all government regulations and let society make it's own decisions. Time and again the relaxing of government regulations has increased profits, innovation and the economy.

Yeah.. I am not a fan of spinners ether.. but I have to say I was sitting at a light and a Cayanne rolls up with em and I had to do a tripple take... I thought I was smoking crack for a few seconds. Kinda like when you are sitting there stoped and the guy next to you rolls forward and it feels like you are rolling back.

No way in hell you would get me to lay down the cash for that though.

"Spinners"? Will you people please catch up on your lingo here? They are called "spreewells" or "moonwalks" by the most bling-bling members of society...like me. And an Escalade is not called an Escalade. It is a "Slade".

I've been thinking about putting some on my 93 Accord. But to save money I'm going to make my own out of fan blades. Then when I roll into the schizzool parking lot in my lowrider, all them fine ladies will be like "ooh, Eric, you so fly!"

In this half of the dorm room, an Escalade is called "Waste of 2 tons of perfectly good steel".
