I've never wanted to hurt someone so badly.

After the band played tonight we marched em off to a cadence but we stayed on the field, because we had a little show. Our line is pretty good, except for one guy, who is only in percussion because of a girl named Tina, who doesn't even like him. He doesn't even own a pair of sticks... so in the simplist part of the show, the entire snare line comes together, bends down and plays on the left drum, right drum, your drum, and then back up. He forgot to go down, which meant that I had no drum to play on, which screwed us all over. I told him to just walk off the field, because if he couldn't do that, he couldn't finish the rest of the show. Drums really mean alot to me...I practice for at least 2 hours a day, and when I have nothing else to do, I'll do it all day. I want more than anything to play in DCI someday, but right now, juinor high is as close as I'll get, and he can't even help me carry out my dream by doing something as simple as bending down. Eh, better get off, grounded anyways.

your in junior high i don't think that will really have any detriment on your chances of eventually performing in a DCI. now if the kid continues to be in band in high school, and still sucks most likely your band instructor will say something to him and he may leave. anyway its not like people really pay all that much attention to the band at the game.

HEY! I resent that. I know people who come to the game ONLY to see the band!

I'm in band too, and the only people that come to the game just to see the band are the band member's parents. Watching a marching band perform is really boring to everyone else who isn't in band.

That kid would have gotten his butt kicked in our band. We were #1 in Ohio in our division (#2 overall). People who couldn't take it seriously ran laps and did pushups until they cared or quit.

Talk to your director or section leader seriously. I don't know how you guys punish people, but having him do pushups in front of the band until his arms fall off might help.

Our director was always very helpful with punishments, and had no qualms about making some screw-off do pushups in full uniform in front of a crowd. I can't think of anyone in 5 years who did that twice.

*sigh* if only it were like this in our band, i swear there is one person in my section that needs so much ritlin its not even funny. hes constantly bouncing off the walls and about a 1/4 of the time he is jumping around doing his own crap when we are marching.unfortunally this guys dad is the band booster president or something so he cant quit, its terrible ive also been sitting next to him for 3 years in concert season. not to mention the people that cant hit notes that you should be able to get in 7th grade. just ignore my rant, i just got back from practice and had to deal with him for three hours
I chop no more thanks to level ten!

Speaking of DCI, just finished watching the world championships. I bet the Caveleers (sp)? won it...everyone else thinks Blue Devils, but that cycle thing that they did at the beggining and end was awesome. I wish we had enough money to make a cymbal rack...we can barely afford our 2 sets of crash cymbals, a hi-hat and a ride as it is...all of the good stuff goes to the highschool.

lol blue devils definitally won it, and cavvies suck, no offense, but my marching band could easily have marched their show. BTW if you go to www.tob-info.net and look at TOB scores for the latest week, you'll see Southern Regional with a 90.1 :-D thats my band and I'm damn proud of it. And I'm going to audtion for Crossmen this year.
