Just curious... 1) Why do people think that Bush intentionally lied about the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? 2) And if he did, don't you think he'd be smart enough to plant some WOMD to justify the war?

it wasnt that he lied intentionally, it was that he gave a speech using information he knew not to be absolutely correct. he could just have easily said, no, we cant say that, we dont know if its true.TONIGHT WE DANCE FOR TOMORROW THEY RELEASE THE DOGS

People are dumb, and they pick at whatever can be picked at whether it matters or not. Iraq will be rebuilt, free of tyrannical rule. Saddam and the old regime is gone, the world is safer. The rebuilding process will take a long time, and things won't be pretty for a while... but it will get there. Some people think this happens overnight for some reason.
The process of killing cancer is not pretty, but it is better to deal with this than let the cancer endure.

Now dont get me wrong, I'll agree that he was misled, but I talked to someone yesterday who though he intentionally lied about it because he "really wanted to go to war". Where do these people get off?Comment

Just so you know... this wasn't supposed to be a partisan thread or anything, I was just curious why anyone would think that... even if you did disagree with the war...but I guess im gonna have to settle on the fact that they're all dirty reds!
And for the record, I was for the war before it started, and still think we did the right thing. But I think its ridiculous to make Bush into Hitler or to make him into a hero... but I think hes got balls o' steel!Last edited by Guest; 10-09-2003, 11:42 PM.Comment

Sure sure, that's what I was thinking too.Originally posted by Steelrat
Miscue, I don't think Erut's post was being critical of what we did in Iraq. Rather, I think he was questioning the justifications used for it. I believe the American people are willing to send out forces in harm's way for a good cause. I just think its necessary to be very up front and honest about our reasons for doing so. Current polls are showing that more and more Americans believe we should not have invaded Iraq. I have to believe that part of this is due to the failure to find any WMD, which was out primary justification for invasion.
I do not think Erut was complaining about the mounting casualties in Iraq. In the grand scheme of things, while I hate even a single American casualty, our losses have been ridiculously light for invading and conquering another country. The media reports about every American casualty, but never mentions all the casualties out forces inflict on the enemy every day. But the sad reality is, the American public has proven over and over again that it has little stomach for American casualties. Lets just hope out government stays the course and finishes what it started, political future be damned.

The 16 words that GW used to refer to WMD's in his UN speech, have somehow become THE reason for offensive action in Iraq. This is known as "out of context", a favorite ploy of a Liberal agenda.
Over 10 years of non-compliance with the same UN that Liberals chant that we must use to have peace. 17 resolutions from the UN demanding compliance with the 1991 agreements or suffer military actions were ignored and spat on by the former Iraqi government. Despite fully signed agreements with the UN to allow UNRESTRICTED access by UN weapons inspectors, the UN weapons inspectors were not allowed to enter nearly 80% of the sites agreed upon. Over 230 incidents of AAA guns and missiles being locked onto, or shot at, coalition aircraft, despite 7 signed UN agreements to stop doing so. The Iraqi Army was supposed to disband, except for a small border force, after the first gulf war, as agreed to by the Iraqi government and military, the UN, and General H. Norman Schwarzkopf. All SCUD missiles were to be disarmed and disassembled, yet many were fired into Kuwait just prior to DSII.
It's easy to keep going on, as there is so much more. The WMD debacle is nothing more than smoke being put up by USA and Bush haters.
War sucks. War is the final political solution, after the politicians have failed. But the loudest voices against war, are from those who are the safest from it.

What I like is people are quick to forgive and forget Saddam's years of dictatorship, murders, torture, rapes, and whatever else he is responsible for in that country.
Yet Bush tells a mistruth, and he is the devil.
How about you look at the big picture here. Regardless of any WMDs, Saddam needed to go. He was a bad bad man, and leaving him in power was making millions of people suffer. If thats not enough of a reason to go to war for you, I feel bad for the future of humanity and I hope to god you never run anything more important than a pencil sharpener.
