I have no problem with some cops ive met. They really do want to help. Some just are out to write tickets and bust you.

Does anyone know the laws on what a cop is aloud to do? Like if im walkin down the street at night, and a cop pulls me over and asks to search me. Do I have the right to say no and keep on goin? Cuz that happens to me a lot. So far I had nothin on me so its all chill but what if I got a blade or something and I dont want him to search me. Cant I just say no?

O and one more question while im at it. If im throwin a party. And there is underage drinking goin on, and cops show up to bust it, i heard its my right to say they arent allowed inside. And the cop has to leave. true?

No, they dont have to. With such an event, the cop could waltz right in.

You can tell a cop to go F himself if he pulls up beside you when you're walking down the street and asks you to come to him or stay where you are. Without probable cause, they have no right to search/question you. There should also be nothing wrong with carrying a knife on you, so long as it's within your state's legal limits. Also, be sure there isn't a curfew in your area. If there is, then the cop can get you on that.

You just walking down the street at night gives the police no reason to search/question you. Granted, they're going to probably follow you if you flip them off or do something along those lines, so it's best to just keep walking and get out of there.

Good news, the charges have been dropped. im home free

Also, the cop denies being a jerk when he was here so that went no where. Also i found out something new today...cops CAN write tickets based on the accounts of someone. That is so lame. So basically you can say that the jerk next door was doin donuts in the street and BOOM wreckless driving ticket.

There was no police report. A cop on a bike came by to get us into the breakdown lane, then he left. The whole insurance thing was covered between me and the guy. Neither of us filed an accident report with the state (I considered it a fender-bender, not worth it to get insurance involved), and it was only until later that the guy did this. I've already discussed this in a thread I made earlier, it's still being resolved...

Lots of different local ordinances come into play here also.

In Kent the cops can enter your house if you don't come to the door after a noise complaint. They can enter if they see someone who appears to be underage drinking. They can card everyone on your porch if there are open containers.

In effect then, they can basicly do whatever they want. They simply need to see one person inside who "appears" (to them) to be underage. If they hear your music from off your property (not hard in Kent), they can come to your door, look over your shoulder when you answer, and immediately enter the house.

The only way to really combat this is to keep parties very small, or block every door and window and keep people who live at the house outside to keep all drunks out of site or off the property and deal with the police if they come. Or, of course, don't allow underagers to drink.

It's also illegal to walk home when you're drunk, so really they'll nail you if they want.

My criminal justice teacher told us police can "Stop and Frisk". Meaning that they can stop you, question you, and frisk you, not the the extend of handcuffing/arresting you thought. They can do this just because they feel that you are suspicous, or somthing you are doing is suspicious. An ex police office in the class confirmed that they do do this.

The police chief of my town attended our WRI 227 (Technical Report Writing) class one day and told us what I said. Perhaps with the new Homeland Security act, things have changed.

Some really really old guy backed into my car in the parking lot. What a fight that was, he kept saying like "cut me a break please" in this sad sad old guy's voice. The police were almost called for this seriously tiny tiny tiny dent, but it finally died down.

me and my friend hit golf balls across the street at a bowling alley. well once when i wasn't there my friend hit their sign and broke it. Now we know the owners really good, and they called us to talk about it, and i wasn't there so i didn't know a thing that they were talking about. After we both denied doing it, the owner calls the COPS! the cap comes to my neighbors house, talks to my friend about it, he starts crying, and gets out of it. Before the cop left he asked my friend if he wanted the golf, and he took it why would the owner call the cops for a small hole in a sign , weird

also i was with my dad once and the family, and we were sitting outside talking. all of the sudden caps come speeding down the road, hit their breaks and come running out of the car and to our neighbors house. The get the dad, put him in handcuffs, and put him in the back of the car. they go into the dads truck and start pulling out tons of clothes. the whole time the family is outside crying and we are watching. after the cops drove off with the dad the family came over and said he stole the clothes, once in a lifetime chance i say:)

I saw a note once in a customer's vehicle - it went something to this nature.

Officer, I mean no disrespect but I am aware of my rights. As such I do not consent to any search of my person or vehicle. If I am under arrest I invoke all of my rights, including the right to not be questioned without my lawyer present. I further understand that I am to be given a reasonable amount of time to secure my property - I do not consent to impound of my property. If I am not under arrest please inform me so I may continue on my way.

It was on a large sheet of paper, along with the law firms name and phone number. Im not exactly sure of the wording, but it seemed to be fairly accurate to my knowledge.

so basically when he asks to search me, i can say whatever i want to him. Im going to try this sometime. Not when I have anything illegal on me of course, cuz im sure he will find a way to search me.

O and black it is illegal in California to carry a concealed weapon. Its kind of up to the cop to make the difference between "pocket knife" and "knife used for stabbing". And in my neighborhood they would prolly take a 17 year old to jail.

Usually they have rules, it has to be under 2.5in, cannot be double sided, cannot have any kind of assisted opening, unless you can justify why you are carrying it around, such as use for work or somthing.
