Flagrant Wastes of Money

I'd like to start a thread of just massive flagrant wastes of money.

For instance, at Drexel the president purchased a bunch of 'segway' thinga ma bobs. See image:


They're suppose to be for campus security, but they can't go over curbs so there's area's on campus that can't be patrolled. For instance, the part where a stabbing occured a week or two ago.

Now, I wouldn't mind if they were say a couple hundred bucks or something, but they're over 5 grand a peice! Why can't campus security ride bikes??

We're officially one step closer to having bar codes tattooed on our necks and microchips inserted into our brains.

That is the stupidest machine I have ever seen and I hope the guy who invented it falls off of one and realizes how stupid of a friggin idea that it was.

Our school never takes care of the stuff it gets. They got a top of the line A/C 8 years ago, and not only did they tear the football field up to put it in, but it took them 8 years to pay it off. Well, because they didn't maintain it like they were supposed to, they had to get a new one. "Hydro Cooling". Yeah....it's gonna take 8 years to pay it off also, and they've already started to have problems with it and it's only been used for about 9 weeks. Also, the football team bought a whole new load of equipment when they could have functioned perfectly with the older stuff. Why don't they spend money on say...a new school? We could use it....

My school buys enough chairs that it can't afford paper. We have like 1.5 chairs per student and we have about 2000 students now.

a new footeball field thats turf that costs like 3 million dollars for a team that loses every game.

paying my 6th grade teacher to come to school stoned.

buying the fire department new trucks every year or two when there in excellent condition.

pretty stupid stuff to waste money on.

Well, we spend 4 million on a building for a new police department. Guess what? They never finished building it, they just left it as a steal frame, eventually someone bought it (at a rediculously low price), finished it and made it into a nursing home.

I lived in kinda south jersey (Sicklerville/Williamstown area) when they put in the aquarium full of fish from the delaware river in camden... they spent a tone of money building tanks for muddy brown fish no one wanted to see... they eventually rebuilt it and stocked it with tropical and more "interesting" fish if I remember correctly...



dunno if you lived in the area around umm 1985 I think when Mayor Wilson Goode ordered a bomb dropped on top of a building and literally burned an entire city block to the ground. To get elected the next year he used city funds to give all the homeless people he could round up one way bus tickets to where ever they wanted...
