$3k might get you a 90-95 civic with high miles.

High mileage, early 90's Chevy 1500 is a good choice if you ask me. Trucks are great vehicles.

High mileage Hondas... generally good cars (and coming from me thats high praise, I have a intense disliking for foreign cars... except expensive European ones). CHANGE THE TIMING BELT... you have no idea how many cars with interference engines I see every week that hte timing belt breaks and causes major damage.

oh cool i like how much 1500's get great gas milage like hondas, are dependable as hell, and parts are like 2 bucks......just kidding, they dont have any of that.

we have a bronco which is basicly an f150 (which is basicly a 1500) and it gets about 15 mpg which LICKS BALLS which is exactly why i want a honda for college and stuff.

I got my first car today which was a 95 civic DX! 68k miles and I got it for $4000, which is a pretty good deal for how well of shape this car is in. It took a looong time to find it though, so keep lookin through the paper, sooner or later you'll find exactly what you're lookin for!

don't forget you can haggle the price some, most people will bring it down quite a bit, so it works out nicely.

best advice i could give you about a civc: take a step back, slap yourself, realize that civics are stupid, slow, and have no torque.
look into a like, 95-99 neon expresso, acr, or r/t. i am prity sure those are the ones that came with the dohc, and have the 3.94 gear ratio. but even if you can't find a dohc, the sohc are still great. neons handle and ride so much better than a civic and out do it in every way imo. plus there is the www.neons.org that is like AO for neons lol. the resembalnce is actully a lil odd.
