    Toyota has gone insane

Ok first off I would like to point out Im a teenager and this is from a teenager's point of view so please if it seems to be naive, Im only 16 years of age.

Toyota has launched the Scion series of cars. As most car magazine owners have seen this is Toyota's way of trying to appeal to the younger generation instead of the middle aged group that they are selling to now. As one of those potential buyers I must say one thing: WHY?!?!?!?!11

The two cars don't appeal to me or any of my friends. The xA is an underpowered sub compact with nifty little gadgets and hip lay out of the dash. While the xB is a friggin box on wheels. Draw a cube you got the xB. WHO GIVES A CRAP? How is that supposed to be making me buy the car? Just because you change the shape of the car, you think that it is cool? I feel like my generation is getting the shaft on new cars coming out targeted toward us.
Let us look back on previous generations shall we? In the late 60's and 70's people got muscle cars, damn good ones, Camaros, Chargers, Mustangs, Novas, Z Cars. The 80's I guess got 5.0 Mustangs, IROC Camaros. What do we get? Hamsters, under powered, 4 cylinder, over priced pieces of crap, except they try to package it in so many ways they are saturating the market with it. Its pitiful.

Here's what I think Toyota should do. Scrap the Scion line. Build an affordable, reliable, decent looking 6 cylinder car. Why 6? Because I think the inline 6 gets a good amonut of power without eating up much gas which fits perfect for today's imports that want to conserve gas. Doesn't even have to come with power anything. Just a bare bones CD audio because kids like putting in their own sound systems anyways. All of this for $15,000? Kids would eat it up. Is that so much to ask for? Im not asking for a freaking Supra. Just something other than the nasty Scion.

since your 16 i wont whail on you that much
it more targeted to the older teens of sort.
the ones that are not living at home but the ones in college and such.

why does the xb look somewhat good to the older teens?
its cheap, gets you to point a and b. and has enough room in the back for you to sleep when your landlord kicks you to the curb for the loud parties.
its not the type of car that youll be keeping for the next 5
    +years....basically a disposable..just like the yugo

when you get there youll know what im talking about
as for toyota makin an affortable car...they do make it
well thats my two cents..im tired

The problem is that the Yugo disposed of it self.

But see still its a car lacking in power, thats just a box. Why not just get a van? Most vans come with a six cylinder engine and seat more than the xB and are great shagin wagons.

its not the power that is lacking...its the lackin of funds

Those cars were products of their time. Back when gas was 20 cents a gallon, insurance was inexpensive, and decent used cars went for $200, you could get away with a powerful, gas guzzling, unreliable vehicle. Also, ever consider why the MGs and early civics/accords were so popular back in the day? Yah, they were "underpowered, 4 banger, peices of crap", but they were inexpensive, fuel efficient, and got the job done. Toyota's lastest offerings fit the same niche.

I myself would never buy one of the new "hip" vehicles. IMHO, you're be better off sticking with an older vehicle than spending $15k just to feel "with it".

And the best disposable vehicles are Hyundais.

                i gotta agree with zumina

back in the days the pumped up muscle cars were 2k to 5k each...if that
and oh the gas prices now a days 1.90 for regular(CA)

The camaro has back seats though, so the seats can recline to the point where they are just short of flat

I like the xB... the cube is tight yo.

the xA is kinda ugly though...

Have you guys actually seen the xB in real life?

I thought it looked stupid as hell always seeing pictures of them in magazines.... But when I visited california... theyre actually pretty cool. I was kinda surprised.

But I'd rather have a Honda IMAS... IMA hot-rod.... 2005 and affordable just like scions

I live in SoCal and I've seen quite a few xB on the road. It may look small but they are pretty spacious in the inside. My brother-in-law actually sat in one a fit comfortable. Oh yeah, the xB that he was in is my brother's. It is mainly a show car and will be in the SEMA show next month in Las Vegas. He has put in better looking guages, ground effect lights, and rims. These were all given by sponsors. One more thing, has anyone else noticed that it looks like a miniature UPS truck?

That's what i do at big games. who needs a tent? I just recline my seat all the way back, and grab a pillow.

I have to agree with the title though. The Scion line is fugly. I'm 18, and i guess that's their target market, and I have yet to meet anyone who thinks they look "cool" who isn't at least 35.
