Ok first off I would like to point out Im a teenager and this is from a teenager's point of view so please if it seems to be naive, Im only 16 years of age.
Toyota has launched the Scion series of cars. As most car magazine owners have seen this is Toyota's way of trying to appeal to the younger generation instead of the middle aged group that they are selling to now. As one of those potential buyers I must say one thing: WHY?!?!?!?!11
The two cars don't appeal to me or any of my friends. The xA is an underpowered sub compact with nifty little gadgets and hip lay out of the dash. While the xB is a friggin box on wheels. Draw a cube you got the xB. WHO GIVES A CRAP? How is that supposed to be making me buy the car? Just because you change the shape of the car, you think that it is cool? I feel like my generation is getting the shaft on new cars coming out targeted toward us.
Let us look back on previous generations shall we? In the late 60's and 70's people got muscle cars, damn good ones, Camaros, Chargers, Mustangs, Novas, Z Cars. The 80's I guess got 5.0 Mustangs, IROC Camaros. What do we get? Hamsters, under powered, 4 cylinder, over priced pieces of crap, except they try to package it in so many ways they are saturating the market with it. Its pitiful.
Here's what I think Toyota should do. Scrap the Scion line. Build an affordable, reliable, decent looking 6 cylinder car. Why 6? Because I think the inline 6 gets a good amonut of power without eating up much gas which fits perfect for today's imports that want to conserve gas. Doesn't even have to come with power anything. Just a bare bones CD audio because kids like putting in their own sound systems anyways. All of this for $15,000? Kids would eat it up. Is that so much to ask for? Im not asking for a freaking Supra. Just something other than the nasty Scion.
