    KMFDM - doin' it again!

OH man - I went to thier concert last night and they freakin rocked! I mean just blew the place away. Everyone was up, fists pumping, screaming lyrics. I dont have anything to compare it to but it just ruled!

And hey - if you remember I did a logo for them, well now they are selling shirt! I met up with Sascha and he gave me $90 of free schwag! I met nearly the whole band except for Raymond Watts - and they were all super cool. Its nice to meet people you have enjoyed listening to for years and find out they arent jerks and hang out a bit.

Even if you arent a fan - but like some good industrial rock - check them out if they are in your area. You wont regret it.

Unfortunatly thier opening band, Bile, sucks. They dont even have a drummer - just a drum machine. And the lead singer I couldnt under stand a word he said. Bleh. Oh well.

Cool Steve, Repost that graphic you did for the new people to see.

My experience is the Drummer is the first one you look to replace with a machine if you can.

The question is (seriously)... did they actually 'play', or was most of the music straight off of a DAT?

(I ask because the last show I saw them on, the Nihil tour, they pretty much lip-synched through a DAT track for the entire show. Man, did that suck.)

I havent seen KMFDM live before this. I do have a tape of some of their older shows, and I know that they were fairly primative...

They didnt lip synch at all at this. In fact, not that I doubt you, but I just dont see them as every lip synching.

It was them in all thier glory:

Sascha on vocals + some synth and elec. drums

Raymond Watts - vocals and Guitar

Jules and Steve White - both ripping on guitar

            Andy - drum

Lucia vocals and looks like she played with some bass synth.

Being industrial they DID have some stuff that was probably pre-recorded synth, drums, and bass - to give the live show the same sound as a recorded album. But everyone was playing thier own instruments and singing - really playing up to the crowd. Watts is a ham. But it was night and day between Bile and KMFDM. Bile had to play to keep up to thier pre-recorded stuff - KMFDM played, and the prerecorded stuff was just icing. Having a live drummer really enhances it, IMHO.

Aside from that they had a nice light/strobe set up and it all looked and sounded great! I cant hear out my left ear well right now - but that should pass!

Is there any KMFDM song that got radio play, or that I might know. I have an older album that I somehow aquired and never really played. But I know I've heard them. I mean, I know who they are, I'm a big fan of industrial. Why does Sister's Machine, or something like that come to mind. Sister Machine Gun. Crap, now I gotta go home and listen to the album.

I went to a KMFDM concert last year... They had little in the way of prerecorded stuff... mostly live play....

Anyone in the Chicago area it was at the Metro... and the one they had a few weeks ago I couldn't attend was at the aragon brawlroom...

KMFDM doent get a lot of radio play cuz they arent 22 with nice boobs.

Drug Against War has been on MTV

They are on several soundtracks - look up thier discography at www.kmfdm.net. The mortal kombat soundtracks come time mind.

If you want to get into them look for:

                  Angst
                  Nihle
                  "symbols"
                  WWIII

Those are my four favorite albums.

I suppose they're all right. I'd rather see NIN live though. Or Atari Teenage Riot. Whats Shacha like?
