    Er... you mean an opening band?

    And opening band is one who plays before the main attraction.

    A cover band is one that doesnt sing thier owns songs, but "covers" songs by other artists. Like an 80s cover band. Or once I saw "Smack" who was a KISS cover band - they played only KISS songs.

    An opening band COULD be a cover band - but not neccessarily.

        well it was a mix sorta half the time they played their own songs (which was pretty much like you described a bunch of jibberish with some random shrieking girl noise) and they were opening for them. they also tried (emphasis on tried) to play a couple atari songs and rage against the machine too lol
