Oh I keep forgetting to point out a few things.

1) Air marshals rarely work alone. Usually there are at least 2 on a plane.

2) The firearm qualification is extremely rigid. 90% of the maximum points available is the bare minimum (or was anyway). And it's not just shoot at the target. It's shoot, reload, shoot in under a few seconds, etc.

If there are 100 terriorists on a plane. I think that wouldn't even leave room for an Air Marshall. Tell that to Army, he is the one that said an armed air marshal can take out 100 guys.

No Shartly you have beliefs, you believe in what you think is true, I believe in what I think is true.

I believe that the mind set of terrorist will not allow one guy with a gun to take out all 6 or so of them. I believe in the idea of a shield of a terrorist in stopping the bullets to take out the air marshal.. You don't, that is your prerogative.

You look at the best case and if it accomplishes you wants that is good, you then look at the worst case and make your judgment off of that, if you can live with that then it is a go.

Please back that up. Terrorism is generally split into ideology based and religion/ethnicity based. Ideological terrorism is pretty much dead because Baader-Meinhof and the Red Army faction of the former West Germany, the Red Brigade of Italy, the Action Directe of France and the Revolutionary Communist Cells of Belgium have practically ceased to operate. I haven't heard anything lately, but the last I heard the west asian groups pretty much dropped off the face of the earth after the number one and two guys were arrested.

So that leaves religion/ethnicity based. Now, granted there are hundreds of rampaging swiss and finnish terrorists, but I'd say a majority of terrorists (especialy those that try to hijack a plane) are of arab descent. I mean, I've never heard of a terrorist screaming "I'm in control of this plane! Take me to England!.....Lebenon perhaps.....but not England....

9/11 was a sucker punch. It will never happen again the way it happened. Passengers will rise up immediatly now. An air marshall and 50 passengers against a few terrorists, I'll bet on the good guys!

Not all terrorist are Muslim, not even the majority of them. The only ones that would pose harm to Israel at this time are Muslims, hence their policy.

Besides the Basque Seperatists, Doomsday cults, militias, what other terrorist groups are out there?

Oh yeah, I saw the Peacemaker too! Those serbs are the worst terrorists!

The majority of terrorists out there now a religous zealots and happen to be Muslim.

Oh yes, we collectively decide to disregard the Irish Catholic and Protestant terrorists because they, for one thing, do not want to incur America's wrath, and, for another, do not belong to a religion where a murder/suicide results in a pleasant afterlife.

We don't have to. You know why? Because the Marshal acts as a deterrent. The fact that a Marshal is on the plane (or could be) is enough to deter the terrorists in many cases.

Let's see, states that are under assault by Muslim terrorists:

Russia, Iraq, Afghanistan, India, Phillipines, Israel, Indonesia, and the US. Just the ones off the top of my head.

If in the rare chance a gun was able to be brought on a plane, I was making the comment that it would not have been of a 50 caliber nature but of a 5.__ mm or a 7.2 mm nature. To the idea that it is the weapon of choice for many terrorist.

Look up two paragraphs. You already admitted that there is a history of marshals stopping a hijacking

No Miscue the worst case scenario is the not just the terrorist taking over the plane, but the air marshal making it easier for the terrorist to take over the plane by giving them a free weapon.

What happens without the Marshal? In the abscence of resistance don't the terrorists already control the plane by default?

The worst case scenario if we get rid of our nuclear weapons is for a nuclear winter to happen for MAD would not be in existence, if others do not. If one happened to go off here in the states, the deaths of the 1,000,000 or so that is killed from it is better then the deaths of the billions on this earth.

Well, I suppose it would work, but I think if I put my mind to it I can find a flaw or two in that strategy. Let me ponder on this one...

Wow albinonewt, that USP 40 is 8inches long too! I bet there isnt much room for a 30rd banana of 7.62mm ammo to fit in front of the trigger frame is there. Only Collegeboy's magical mini 8inch AK's have that capability!
