How much money....

I was just wondering if any AOers kept emergency cash at home. I know in this day of ATMs, Debit Cards, etc... access to your money is easy. However there is always that occasion where you never know.

Am I just being paranoid or do others feel the same way. I am not talking about crazy aunt flo that puts all her money in the mattress, I am talking about keeping $1,000 locked in the home safe for quick access.

I keep emergency cash under my .45... as well as a half case of shotgun shells for my twelve gauge - so I may be a little paranoid.

Factually, where I live, my closest neighbor is a quarter mile away, I may need cash if I am to make a quick drive somewhere but if the circumstances are that my credit cards won't work I'm kinda screwed - essentially I keep enough emergency cash at home to make small time bail money should I ever be accidentally arrested.

I dont have a debit card, or a bank account down here at school. I pretty much keep all my money in my pocket. Which is empty....Every other week or so I do bottle returns and get a bunch of cash. Then buy more bottles.

Right now I've got $60 in my pocket, $110 set away for the next tourney, and I've got $300 of "general purpose" money in the bank... and somebody owes me $110... and somebody else owes me $15... lol that's a lot of money for a 17 year old... well, at least for me!!

One of my friends was arrested once - when a police officer ran his license wrong - one digit off and happened to come up with his cousin. His cousin's name was close enough that they assumed it was him, arrested him, and it took them three days to sort it out. As it happens, the two counties I might be arrested in - my dad is good friends with the undersheriff of one and my uncle works in the other, so I doubt I would be accidentally arrested.

The amount I keep also happens to be the amount it takes to retain the three best divorce attornies (I know from experience) in the county (its always good to retain them all and then dictate divorce terms).
