If you follow the rules about the Ban, they usually are lifted early. BUT, you go around the ban and create another account, that usually results in a perm ban.

Now, we may not be privy to all the information. I know that the moderators keep "paperwork" of sorts in Illuminati in regards to their moderating of the forums. I'm willing to bet that this paperwork has been kept on Squid and a few others on the forum.

Now, I'm not choosing sides. In fact, I really don't care one way or the other. (never had anything against Squid, but also never thought overly positive either). But keep in mind. None of us are moderators and none of us know the "paper trail" that Squid may have generated in the time here.

As for the whole favoritism thing... That's pretty much a fact of life. You're going to have people do that. Does it make it totally fair? No. But is it so overwhelming as to cause problems? Also, no. We all know the rules and abide by them. Otherwise, we'd be in the same situation as Squid and others have been. But I think it also goes the other way as well. People that SHOULD get a vacation, don't.

I like to think that in the end, it all comes out in the wash. As people said, "it's an internet forum." It's not congress.

and the creating a new user account, i did that once, and i proably should have been perm banned. it was my fault for not reading the rules to begin with.

i say bottom line is this:

squid is banned for a reason. in the few months that ive been here, I havent seen a mod just ban someone for no good reason.

I already wrote a few paragraphs explaining this in the original thread. But, the thread was deleted... and those who needed to see it I believe read it. Dayspring has it correct... If you'd like to see a paper trail, go search all of squid's posts and you'll find it.

Summary: He's been warned several times already to quit misbehaving, but persists anyway. He has already been banned before for doing the same things. He has broken rules that have been specifically pointed out to him not to. The culmination of repeat offenses and going over the top in this thread is what did him in.

It's a THREE DAY BAN! He'll survive. Maybe he'll remember to behave. If he still doesn't, then he'll get the perm ban.

As a matter of fact I think it was me that banned squid a while back for a few days.

But I will say that when I saw that thread it was after Miscue had delt with it. And I will say that I was not realy all that impressed with a few other members activities in that thread either. They may not have actually broken any rules clear rules but they certainly were activities I did not approve of. This editing posts to put words in someones mouth is one of the things I noted. And not allowing a member to speak his mind about what he thinks without picking on him over it. And you knew he was excitable. So you picked on him, That is bullying is what it is. I was ashamed realy of what I saw.

And I think Squid means well. He has always been sorry for what he has done "after" the fact. At some point I was hopeing he would conform before the fact. He indeed may have some issues that maybe he needs some slack cut on. And maybe we should be the ones to help him deal with that. Shutting him off is not helping him any now is it?

Thats all I gotta say about it. He is getting some slack as Miscue has decided to overlook him coming right back. I think that was very fair.

But a certain member involved int the bullying of him will go on watch. Call attention to yourself and thats the least that will happen.

Common here folks. Lets not be so mean spirited. You can correct someone without being mean. Thats just not the right way to handle things.
