Bass or Electric Guitar

My Parents are considered legally insane "You have too much time on your hands...play a sport, find a hobby, or get a job"

With all my homework, i rarely have time -.-, but they think i have more than needed..

Im not gonna get a job and work for a few hours on the weekends,

so im gonna take guitar lessons...

ive always wanted to learn. but never had the time or money

so this way they buy the lessons, and rent me a guitar then eventaully buy me one or i buy one

BUT idk if i should go bass or electric...

Im left handed, so its difficult finding a guitar for me ^^

being left handed doesnt really matter, and its gonna be the same problem with both electric guitar or bass. i would just get a right handed guitar or bass. now guitar is something that u will be interested for a very long time because its hard, but bass is easy to learn. its up to you. i play both but guitar is much more fun.

Why not learn both,lol,But id say electric because thats what i play but its really up to you.

I play both and I can say bass is easy and guitar isn't but guitar is hell of alot more fun.

base is not easyer. you guy's just probibly only play punk and rock songs all the time, where you only play the root note of whaterver the guitar is playing. If you get into "real" base, like where you acutauly play more than just the root note, it is very chalaning. more so than guitar in someways because of the large frets. but guitar is more diverse, you can play more differnt kinds of songs and you can play around with more tones and chords than you can on base.(at leat more obvious tones).

Playing alone guitar would definatly be more fun, and in a band gutar is fun because you are basicly the driving song of the band, but if you realy want to be in a band, play base, becuse eveyone plays guitar, but finding a good basist is hard because their are so few, if you become a realy good base player, you will be in high demand to play with lots of bands.

this is just my opinion tho.

Yeah, bass definately isn't easy. I just started playing a little while ago and to really understand what the true roll of the bass is in the band and make it sound good with all the other instruments definately is hard to get other than it just sounding cool.

Oh yeah, if you really wanna be in a band learn how to play drums. I know around here there's tons of people I know that all wanna start bands but nobody plays drums.

Lol, here we have too many drummers....mabey we could trade some? One time though, me and 3 other drummers set up on a float for the parade and we all played in turns....3 would play a beat while one just soloed away for 32 measures about. It was a blast.

Hehehe, yeah no kidding. I wish I could play drums. I gotta give props to everyone that can play them well cause that's one hard instrument or set of instruments.

Yah, I need a drummer. I play guiter and so does my friend, I have two friends that play base, neither great tho, but no one plays drums.

to add to what I said before, good base realy pulls togeather a band, even when it isn't obvious. like the bassest in green day is actualy realy good his riffs give lots of their songs that extra somthing, yet you dont realy notice it. Base is perfect for somebody who doesn't like being the centre of attention.

I say go with electric guitar. You can have alot more fun and make more music on your own with a guitar then a bass. Bass can be fun but only in a band environment IMO. Guitar can be fun and relaxing on your own or in a band environment. Im a les paul player and love the sound. It can be a relaxing point or a vent hole for aggression, depends on my mood....lol.

i think my comment was taken wrong about bass... its hard, but after playing guitar for 3 years then picking up a bass, it was very easy. if you want to be really cool learn how to play stand up
