***EDIT*** Before going there though .... Did you recently upgrade your machine? Add any new hardware to it?

Sounds like you got the nasty little worm that was going around about 3-4 months ago I believe. I believe you can visit their site and find the patch for it.

My brother's system did that a while ago...turned out to be the power supply. Not enough juice to suppoert all the hardware he added.

I'm not particularly knowedgeable...but if that's the problem, just get something with a higher wattage than you currently have. Perhaps take it to a store and ask them to hook it up to a supply to see if that is indeed the problem?

              Good luck

If it's not that recent virus that tries to reboot your machine if it's XP or W2k, then it probably is the power supply. This seems to be supported by the fact that you added another component, thus drawing more power.

Depending what you have in your computer go for at least an Antec or PC Power & Cooling "TRUE" 350 watt.

[TRUE means that the average rating is 350 watts, not just the peak rating that other supplies advertise]

I'm not under the alkafluence of inkahol that some thinkle peep I am. It's just the drunker I sit here the longer I get...

Power supplies will run between a low of $30 to upwards of a couple hundred (but those are hotswapable, redundent power supplies ) ...

Usually expect to spend around $40-$60 on a good power supply. Check out Toms Hardware website, they did a good review of multiple power supplies and they tend to be very detailed on their reviews.
