mp3 question

yesterday i bought a cd player that will play mp3 cd's. Get home decide to put my cd's on one mp3 cd. Start to try find out only about a quarter of the files are mp3. I used windows media player to get the cd's on my computer. I use winamp 3 to listen to them, does anybody know a program or a way that i can convert these to mp3 and if so please post now i have to go on a field trip on a bus for six hours and want to have all my cd's.

Go to www.download.com and search for a .WMP (I think thats the windows media player format but i'm not sure) to .mp3 convertor.

Well i got news for you children. screw the idiot iTunes Music Store, iTunes of the ultimate Mp3/AIFF/WAV/AAC/streaming Radio/CD Ripping/Burning(and DVD burning) app out there! none of this crappy max bit rate that you can encode at is 128K crap, you can do up to 320 and VBR if you want. Not only that but if you ask it to, it will organize every Mp3 file based of the ID3 tag according to artist and album (and update it automatically.

It gives me (and you) the power to quickly manipulate large music collections (mine is at 65gigs over 10,000 songs).

AND IT'S FREE.

I want you tell me that WinAmp is a better thing than that.

i figured out what i need but cant find it. A .wma to mp3 converter thats free and i need to convert all my files by wensday night so please if you know a program tell me.

z-man - I don't think itunes is out for windows yet, although I believe they are planning on producing one.

I think the closest one to itunes for the pc as of now is what comes with the windows ipods and what many pc users use to organize their music, Musicmatch.

It can encode 320 or vbr as mp3. It can encode mp3, wav, mp3pro, and wma for us windows users. It has streaming radio as well as a music center to buy downloaded music. It has the automatic Id3 tag lookup via the internet.

I have only about 4000 songs, but it has done very well in organizing them.

I'd like to try itunes when it comes out for windows, if it hasn't already. But right now musicmatch is working nicely.

I'm not sure if musicmatch can convert wma to mp3, but one program that might do it is media jukebox by jriver.

go to Apple's site. it's out and its been out for weeks now. It's free and it's very nice.

I did just that right after I posted, probably should have gone before, and you're right. It is available for windows now. I'm downloading it as we speak.

Right forum, wrong thread.

To do that you have to make a sig that fits the guidlines (175pixels high MAX 350 pixel wide Max, 20K or less and no offencize stuff I think.).

Then you have to get it hosted and link it. do a search on this forum, you will find it.
