Can someone please give me some background on what UN Resolution 181 said. I know that it had a large bearing on the events in the Middle East today, and assume it has something do to with the partition of Palestine between Jews and Arabs. Is this correct? Am I missing any major details?

I think it might have been the one where they just started to draw new boundries for country's and giving certain minortiy's/majority's their own state, but It's realy a guess, I'm not sure.Comment

Well like I said, that's pretty much what I know. After WW2 Palestine was split up into Jewish and Arab states. What I want to know is if there are any major factors or points that I'm missing.
Thanks for the input thoughIt's Bold As LoveComment

Basically, this created the two state solution that was desired from the beginning. Of the many problems was the fact that most of the Palestinians and Arabs rejected this solution from the beginning. However, it was passed. Later Jordan would basically seize a large chunk of the Palestinian territory and two wars would be fought, expanding the size of the Jewish state and setting the stage for today's conflicts. I'd love to go into further detail but I need to head out for work, but I'm sure someone will fill in the blanks during the day. If not I'll do it this evening.Or better yet, why don't you kill yourself. No, really, die. Drop dead, don't leave a note, in fact burn your house while your little ego is stuck in a bench vice so that you'll also incenerate yourslef and everything you own with it. Because that's all you're worth. You're not even wirh thte time it'll take for the house to burn down, so just kill yourself. You're a waste of space. You are nothing, you always will be nothing. Don't leave a note, you're not worth the ink. - TygerComment

Who am I kidding?
It is the original plan from 29 Nov 1947 that called for the British to divide the disputed territory into a Jewish and Arab state.
Neither side liked it, the Jews took theirs and then in two wars one carried out against them during a holy time for the Jews and one Preemptive war, they took all of the territories.
The Palestinians refused to accept it at first as they wanted all of the land there. After the two wars and Israeli conquest, all of a sudden 181 became the gospel for them.
