    a design for free power

hmm, well alternaters are ran and they make power right? well take a small moter, attach it to the alternater, and vice verca, use a small jolt from a battery to get it all started, and BAM free power!! or is there something wrong with this idea, just have say 20 alternaters and a say like 5-10 motors running 2-4 alternaters each, have enough power from them going to the motors, and the rest to a rechargable battery@

Welcome to the wonderful world of Thermodynamics. Here are a couple of quick sites for more information:

404 - Page not found - The page you are looking for might have been removed or temporarily unavailable.

In short, no system can be 100% efficient, and you can't get more energy out of a system than you put in.

No such thing as perpetual motion machine... although the patent office has them on file.

Unfortunatly all the power that could possibly be harnessed to do good things via Solar and Windpowered souces goes to fuel your need to postwhore. So Um your wrong again.

It's too bad we haven't figured out how to really make use of geothermal energy.

Not only is there friction to consider, there is the system's electrical resistance to take into account.
There are three kinds of people in the world: Those who can count, and those who can't.

                            With understanding comes understanding.

If the saying is true that we are what we eat, aren't we all just cannibals?

It still costs lots of money to build and maintain the equipment that harnesses(captures) the energy and transforms it into electricity.

The best "free" energy is probably efficient house design incorporating good insulation and use of passive solar heating. (I did a university paper of efficient low energy use homes.

As far as geothermal energy goes, there are good systems on the market now. Instead of installing a heat pump that transfers heat to/from the air outside your house, it tranfers the heat to/from liquid in tubes that are drilled hunreds of feet below your house. You have to pay thousands of dolars more for the installation, but should end up with more money in pocket after a few years.
