HELP!!!!Computer Guru's Running Win XP Pro

Computers Fragged!!!! Got a friend working on it right now but doesn't look good. I was running Win ME, but recently partitioned my hard drive and loaded Win XP to see if I'd like it before putting it on as my primary OS. I did a full install and used NTFS instead of the Fat 32. I think thats where the problem started. In my ignorance, I thought that maybe the "transfer files and settings wizard" might help grab some stuff off of the Cdrive(winME), and bring them over to the logical D(winXP). I made this litttle floppy, reboted, and bam....got a non systems disc error. No, there weren't any disc's in the drives. Too add to it, I can't read the d:drive anymore either. I didn't have a current boot disk, and the Norton rescue disc i ahd din't have current partition tables. Anyway, I don't know enough on how this stuff works to really fix it, Dell's no help either(support goes out the window if you make any changes to your computer). I've pretty much accepted losing all of it and having to re-instal everything. I could just use the Dell systems discs but I'm wondering if I should just F:disc and load XP from the start and just manually reload all of the software. If I go that route should I stick with the NTFS?????from what I've heard thats the way to go. Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

well.. this is the way it works

NTFS is a file system developed for network security basicly.. and you dont want that if you play alot of games because compatability goes out the window.. its GREAT for a server, its the same file structure used in WindowsNT and NFS is used in Linix & Unix...

I have WindowsXP installed on all 4 of my computers and i install it on every network i setup...XP RULES>.. hehe..

now, about the boot sector on your HD, you would have to talk to my friend, which is a tech on that kinda stuff.. hehe..

but as for NTFS vs. FAT32 go with FAT32 because of the compatability.. its much better if you like to copy data and bring it somewheres.. heh.. because of the NTFS you can't bring the data over to a FAT32 system and read it.. thats part of the Security features..

    hope i helped some..

i installed xp on a second partition but i used fat 32 and have had absolutely no problems with my system... well except for the lack of xp drivers for all my stuff. i had a friend that was telling me that the ntfs file system is a big pain and that he was even unable to remove the ntfs partition from the hard drive. so i never thought to install xp that way. my only suggestion is that if you can't repartition or fix the drive is to just buy a new hard drive
