I know your problem, your running an ATI card Get an Nvidia powered card and all of your problems will go away

You need a good beating for saying that. I have a radeon 8500 it has no problems runnung Halo, NONE. I used to be an nvidia fan, until they stoped making good video cards (GeForce 4 was the last good one). Now how about some nVidia bashing? I'm up for that...

Daroy99, here are the newest drivers for your card. Dont listen to FragTek, he doesn't know what he's talking about.

In When the GeForce 2 Ultra came out, that was true. Deep in my heart I know that you have never seen ATI vs nVidia benchmarks.

I'm not paying more for a worse graphics card. I'm sticking to ATI. nVidia was a dissapointment for me.

try running halo.exe with the "-use14" or "-use11" parameter
This forces the game to use either pixel shader v1.4 or 1.1, which your crappy old radeon card should be able to handle. You really should think about upgrading though, I reccomend you get something like a 9600, they're very fast and with a bit of reading and patience you can softclock it up to around thes speed of a 9700pro.

how would you go about doing that..i have a 9600pro and was kinda upset when i read anandtech's article about the 9500pro being much faster than a 9600pro (almost as fast as a 9700pro)

Well u would have known... LOL. It will ONLY fit in the AGP slot if its an AGP card, which I'm guessing it is, I didn't think they still made PCI vid. cards... Well I know they still make ****ty PCI vid. cards for old-skewl comp. owners, lolz. Go Nvidia!

well if you guys say that ati is soo good, then tell me why my old geforce 2 gets as good as fps as my radeon 9000 pro with all graphics settings turned all the way down, i can not get higher than 70 fps with my radeon, and the only way i can get that high is by looking at the ground in half life, average i get is 30 fps in day of defeat or americas army, oh wait, americas army is like less than 20 fps

                              P4 1.5 ghz
                              512 mb RAM
ATI Radeon P.O.S 9000 pro 128 mb, with graphics all the way down
and 140 gb of hard drive space

not a bad comp if you ask me, windows xp, but for somereason the speed is just crap, my next card will NOT be ATI unless i can get a consistant fps count over 50, then i'll be happy, can anyone help, or lead me to a site that could solve the problem, and i always keep catalyst up do date btw, and ati's support has never helped me
