well, my 9800aiw beats just about everything in benchmarks, except the 9800xt of course.

Sadly, no one has attempted to answer your question.
Anyhow, I've seen Halo bring this up before, so I would first have you uninstall your current driver and update the driver with one from ATI's site.
Secondly, I would check your direct X version (which is probably fine) and run all the dxdiag tests.
Thirdly, if those fail to fix the problem, I would have to reccommend that thing to force Halo to run with those lower settings (didn't know Halo was capable to do that).
Could try some good gaming message boards or search for that error in google .. bur you'll probably have to upgrade your card at that point man..
