My dad just got a $10,000 M1 Garand Marine Corp. Sniper Rifle

Yeah so check this out, a long time friend of my dads was in the Army in the 50's through the 60's, and got ahold of one of these MC-1 Garands with the Kollmorgan Scope. They were modified M1-C's made specifically for the Marine Corps. around 1952 to 56. These are like the holy grail of Garands and are extremely rare. The Kollmorgan scope with original scope mount alone sells for around $4,000.

So how did he get it? Well the guy who had it really wanted an M1 Carbine so my dad built him one thats all original. He was more than happy to trade! LOL! WE WIN! Go dad!

The only problem is the guy polyurathaned the friggen stock!! So now we are trying to find out the best way to refinish it and not hurt the beautiful Walnut.

Army should get a kick out of this.

yup! He builds just about anything, we do our own parkerizing, etc. His specialities are WWI and II German and American Rifles. Thordic will like these, our other two prized possessions:

Enfield Trials Rifle, No.4 Mark 1 T. 1 of 2500 in the world. Experimental Trials rifle used in the design process.

      And

Enfield No.1 Mark 6. 1 of 1224 in the World. This was the experimental No.1 varient 6 that lead to the design of the No. 4 Enfield along with the one above.

          Damn mango, I'm jealous!..wait, no I'm not

My grandfather has one of the Garand's as well..damn, it's a beautiful gun

He (grandfather) is a collector.. mostly WWII-Korea, but he also has a fair amount of pre & post stuff.. very cool

The one thing he's been *really* lusting after is a Grease gun in good condition.. hell, even I'm lusting after one!
I'm way too old for this ****.

I thought they couldn't use the garand as a sniper rifle because they couldn't fit the top feeding magazine in past the scope? They used the bolt action M1903 Springfield in ww2.

False. The mount is nicely placed to the side and feeding is not a problem. The 1903 Springfield was used in WWII and is an fantastic rifle. This MC-1 varient was actually used and in service for the Bay of Pigs Invasion. It saw some action for sure.

What you have is a Winshester Model 94 Lever action rifle, Remington never made a lever action rifle to my knowledge or my dads. Only two companies ever did, Marlin and Winchester. For $16.05 you can buy an entire new buttstock, factory original walnut, from Numrich I even found the Item # for ya: Item # 298120

                    Beautiful rifles!

Where'd your dad score those Enfields? I'm a bit suprised those aren't in a museum in the UK.
